Default precision turbo issues

hello this is a pic of a pt67 NON BALL BEARING turbo i installed on a customers vehicle after only 7 street 3rd gear pulls and 4 track runs and 10 street miles. the car had a garrett 60-1 on it for 1 year with no problems and all i did was change turbos and retune. precision says they wont warranty it and its gonna cost 300 to 500. WAT HAPPENED I HAD A FILTER ON AT ALL TIMES!

was the compressor wheel touching the housing when you installed it ?

Whats with the leading edges of the blades... they look as if they have wear and some chips in them from possibly sucking in something? The edges of the nut and the hub all have a wear ring around them as well. You check to see if the filter collapsed and was being sucked into the compressor wheel?

How is it not hitting, you can clearly see the housing and wheel have touched.

Why did Precision say they would not warranty it, what reason did they give you?

That is a lot of damage on the leading edges of the blades for the tiny bit of time the turbo was running, huh?

Just to think of how something like this could have happened, does anyone think that some of the fragments from the outer edges of the wheel, or the housing itself might have caused that damage on the leading edges of the blades after it was sheared off and bounced around in front of the wheel for an instant?

This is gnarly. If Precision really is starting to produce QC problems, they're going to be in trouble. . .

Turbo could have been bad to start. Who knows what could have happened on the 7 3rd gear pulls. I would always check for shaft play after every dyno session or street runs. Shaft play should be very small if even.

My precision 67BB looked like that after 20psi of boost with a clogged restrictor, doubtful they would warranty damage like that, sure sucks.

yeah thats either lack of oiling or foreign object if i had to guess id say lack or oiling and took out the bearings which in turn cause excess play and caused the wheel to hit the housing. what does the turbine look like

seriously, look that wheel has clearly ground into the housing. i would like to know how you didn't hear this happening. that would make noise like crazy.

^^^ Mine made no noise that I could hear, then again it blew in boost and was not spinning after it blew, the little exploded ball bearings found their way into my oil pan as well that was quite interesting.

I drove all the way home thinking I blew a charge pipe off or a coupler, man was I suprised.
