Default Precision 350HP Intercooler for 400whp

What would happen if i try to make 400whp or 20psi on pump gas with a T3t4 60 Trim turbo on a built b16a with a 350HP Precision Intercooler?

Engine would blow up......

What would really happen , intercooler would act like a restrictor, wouldn't work as effectively. I'm sure you could still push 400hp though.

You could still make 400hp, it would just take more boost to do it than it would with an intercooler that is made to perform at that level. You could always run it for a while and then change it to a larger one and come on here to tell us how much horsepower you made.

It'll be fine, but it becomes more inefficient. The core should flow enough for 400whp but there may be an increase in pressure drop across the core along with increased IAT's. The car won't always be at 400whp, so I wouldn't worry about it. Just make sure you have GREAT airflow. If you don't it'll be more like a bomb waiting to explode. lol

honestly just get a bigger intercooler. for 400hp that is going to be holding you back. the amount of cfm's that will be flowing is to much for that intercooler. you'll see a loss in rpm and a wavy dyno graph that will show that the intercooler is to small when trying to reach 400 hp. just sell it and get the precision 600hp.

i made 602hp on 30lbs. with an sc6176 on a 350hp core it didnt break for 2 years of hard driving on the track every weekend and some street driving. it would have been fine had I not added a 100shot of nitrous which upped the boost 3 lbs. I realize I should have installed a bigger intercooler but i didnt and i paid the price... 2 pistons and broke 2 spark plugs off and banged up the head a little. long story short you can make 400 on a 350 core

Go for 4 if the setup allows it and everything is working together, you won't just stop making power at 350hp because of the rating of the intercooler, it doesn't work like that.

I'm sure it has a measurable loss in efficiency; HOWEVER, you should be fine. The concern here is that you're trying to make that power on pump gas. You will be pushing the limits of the fuel and will be running higher IATs due to the smaller intercooler...this could mean you won't reach your goal, but i can't say for certain.
