power FC on prelude PROBLEMS
hey guys. i have a 97 prelude at work with a power FC and 550cc precision injectors on it. When i start it, it will idle (rough) and when i give it throttle, it dies. tps voltage is perfect.. any ideas?

Since you changed injectors, you need to change and tune the air/fuel trim on the power FC by way of an FC datalogit, or go to a Power FC excel tuner that has the edit software. You'll also need the boost kit and solenoid so it can go PAST the 11psi point. Did you purchase this new or used, and if so, Which one did you purchase? They did not make one for the prelude, but people integrate other models into the ones they weren't designed for.

Uhhh.... maybe you should tune the car??? Base maps are just base maps. They don't always allow the car to drive flawlessly.

Exactly. I don't mean to sound harsh, but if you an authorized Excel Tuner/ dealer, then really, we're the last people to ask to tune this. Excel dealers have to go to california in order to learn the specifics of this system. I deal w/ Excel dealers all the time for my Power FC tunes and you don't seem to exhibit the behavior of those who attended those classes and were certified. You may be able to SELL Power FC, but that doesn't mean you're an EXCEL distributor.
Sounds like an injector issue that you need to tune out, as well as get that boost kit.
Are you using the B18C or B16B system to tune?

Precision doesn't sell a sport compact 550cc (low imp) injector unless it's the sport compact mitsibushi fuel injector. They sell 525cc's (high imp) and 580cc's (low impedance) which are the ones designed for honda's. If he is running the 525cc's (high imp) then he does not need a resistor box. If he is running the mitsu style injector, then he needs a resistor box.
Regardless, if he did in fact tune the car for 11psi he should be able to tune it for idle if he is a certified dealer for this product. TheShodan pretty much summed it up.

Ah, there's the rub. Glad you were able to switch units and verify.

Honestly, there are soooo many better options as far as tuning systems go when it comes to Honda Power FC is the last thing we deal with in here. *shrug*

Hehe. had Power FC tuned well on 2 personal cars for over 6 years, and not one issue. Many people that have had this as a solution has been satisfied. Simply because it doesn't cater to fall within a bandwagon for drag racers (2 step, launch control, boost by gear) doesn't make it a bad system by any means. There are those w/ both NA and Boosted setups that work consistently well with the Power FC on this forum, that perhaps you haven't paid any attention to.

Hmm, maybe I worded what I said poorly.
I've used Power FC plenty of times before, it's a great system. But I've only ever used it on SR/13B/etc powerplants. Mostly Nissan/Mazda world. I've never tuned with it, just put it in cars but you understand what I mean. I've been on Honda-tech for a good amount of time now, and I still rarely see people using the Power FC, and even fewer people who actually know anything about it.
Which was kinda my point and your point earlier, this is seriously the last place to ask a question about the system. That's all.

Ah. I see where you're coming from now. Based upon that statement, I would tend to agree. Now that you've worded it that way, it is more clear now.
