Default Is it possible to make an electrical missing link for the MAP sensor?

How hard would it be to make an electrical missing link? Doesn't the J&S safeguard do this?

I know a bit about electronics, but I'm not sure how I would do this. it would have to cut down the voltage to whatever lines up w/ 0psi whenever it went over, right?

Anyone try this or have any ideas how to do it?

Yes, and Oscar Jackson makes one, it simply wont allow a voltage signal over the max that the ECU can see without throwing a code

The new J&S Ultra Ver. 2 has an "electrical missing link." It does away with check valves..

There are plans that someone has posted online on a "do-it-yourself" voltage limiter for the MAP sensor; looks pretty easy if you know op-amps and transistors. I'll see if I can find it, it's been awhile.

i believe these were sold a while back but there were some problems because the clamping voltage has to be adjustable for different atmospheric pressures (elevations). the J&S limiter is adjustable with a variable resistor and a led to see when the MAP voltage is below the clamp or not.

OK i put the schematic up on my yahoo photo album - it was given to me by another user with permission to post the plans as part of my VAFC modification project but I figure this is relevant.

In the schematic P1 serves to adjust the clamping voltage for the map limiter.

Just find yourself a greddy black box. I got one if you need it...

what's wrong with relays? obviously not the most elegant solution but workable. You could probably come up with a more elegant solution if you really cared.

my friend and i are putting the finishing touchs on a electric map limiter. It will have two outputs, one "limited" output and one "full" output (so you can do the afc hack or something). Ours is solid state, no relays. We are also going to have a dial so you can adjust where the limiter is. We currently have a prototype and are testing it out. Once we find it works correctly we will be selling it. Ill keep you all informed.

thanks,
liam

Sounds cool Liam

For anyone who just wants to buy one for a decent price, check out this one:

At the bottom of the page - the MAP sensor CLAMPlink only $66

we are hoping that the one we are having made will cost around $30 each. The prototype is done and we are picking it up today...once we test it and we know it works and does what we want we will make 50 of them and sell them.
