pistons problem
ok heres the deal, got some SRP 9:1 pistons for my gsr block. took my stock pistons out and let the shop press my pistons and rods together.. now it seems that the pistons wont fit in correctly. anyone know what the problems maybe? mechanic says the piston seems a bit oval???? can it be so?

Did you get the right overbore? Sounds like a silly question but sometimes the factory screws it up. Look on the piston top for the overbore size, which should be stamped on there somewhere.
you should have modified the stock rod to use a free floating pin and used the circlips to lock the pin in the piston. the shop probably ovaled the piston pressing the pins in.

any ideas? i asked my mechanic about sanding down one of the sides of the pistons, then oil it up and putt'm in. looks like it'll fit if i do this.. is it safe? any recommendations... all four pistons have the same problem.
this sux, it's been a week now since the problem and i'm still pretty much clueless. i suppose my pistons are done? you think its possible to sand/mill the side of the piston a bit so that it'll fit in the block? pros/cons? or what about boring out my block? hrmm.. HELP!!!! i didn't know a turbo project would be this hard.... DAYUM! maybe this is a sign for me to stick to all motor.
Take your pistons to the shop and tell them about the problem and they will have to fix it...They are responsible...If they give you a hard time, call a lawyer, the BBB, the local news, any people that will put them out of business for messing up your new parts...Also, contact SRP/JE about your problem and see if they can help you out...
I agree, go get the shop to fix it, but IMHO don't go there and demand that they replace them. Go talk to the manager, and explain your problem and your intentions. Making a compromise can be easier than getting the BBB, etc, involved, as in the end that can cost you more time, money, and effort than it's worth.

Even so, demanding something rite off the bat isn't going to help.
Even if you know that the only fix is for them to buy you new parts, you never start off by demanding something. Like boosted92 said, go in there talk with them (like he did) and let them come up with a solution I garantee that they will be a lot more willing to work with a calm reasonble customer then some pissed of guy thats demanding ****. From their point of view they will see it as nothing will make this person happy. It's always nice to work with reasonble people vs unreasonable people

true, very true... walked in hot headed with a smile and explain the problem and how it was their fault so they took the pistons/rods back and offered to fix them stating, "sorry, we'll try out best to fix the problem, if not we'll refund you the labor cost and the cost of the pistons." But the way they said it, seems like they'll try their best to fix it rather than get me my $. That's just state law, the customer has to abide by an offer to fix something before getting refunds for it. (People's Court
) the pistons aren't that badly messed up, you can hardly tell unless you compare it to a stock piston, so i feel its fixable but i just want some new pistons.. dayum!
