Hello guys, I'm looking to gather some information on clearences for the Vitara build.

Can you guys share the piston to wall clearance you are using.

What about ring gaps and rod / main bearing clearences?

My vitaras was bored to 0.08mm piston to cylinder clearance. Rings that came with pistons was out of oem spec but it works fine.. 10K miles now on engine. No piston slap.

 

0.003", Factory ring gaps/bearing clearances. Getting close to 2,000 miles, not a single problem.

 

0.003" is 0.0762mm so we are running about same.

Ring gaps are different per app. If you plan to boost you run more then a a/m build. What hp do you plan to try and make?

 

Caps was out of oem clearance cause of bore. I just drop them in and start beating

 

Hello Mike, we are looking to make around 400hp with this setup. Turbo of course

 

.017 on the top and .019 on the 2nd ring should work fine.
