You can make good power with just pistons and rods, jinx has proven this with i believe 450+whp. A sleeved block just adds that extra sense of security that you wont crack a sleeve under HIGH boost pressures. Personally, id rather fork out the extra $700ish to have it done right the first time and know that i have a bullet proof block. But keep in mind, tuning is everything. You can have a fully built motor, but if it isnt tuned properly you can blow your motor, melt your pistons, etc. If you keep your stock sleeves and push 12+psi, make sure you have a top notch tuner.

sleeving isnt necessarily doing it right, i mean for my car, forged pistons and rods with proper engine managemnt will do, as will most likely for you guys, its just that sleeved people usually end up running really high boost from my observations,
But keep in mind, tuning is everything. .
this quote should be kept at the top of EVERY forced induction forum of all kinds of cars, some poeple think forged internals make you invisible to detnation , bad AF ratios etc, like dude said above, tuning is the key, if i were you, i would turbo first, then upgrade the pistons so you have somehting to look forward to, i run 9 psi on my 2.0 8v sohc, and when i get sds stand alone, i will be seeing 17 psi

DEFINITELY go with the stand alone, youre sleeves are good for nothing w/o stand alone

You can make everybit the power on stock cylinders as you can on a sleeved block, just not for very long.

I'm a huge fan of JE pistons with Crower rods, thats if you have the money to spend on them. If you are on a budget, the endyn rods and wiseco pistons are also good. Arias and srp are also some good pistons. As far as compression, the lower the better. Personally, i like 9.0:1
