piston ring seating
i have done some research and for the most part i understand how to seat new piston rings. one thing i was told in the past was to pour about an oil cap of oil down into the combustion chamber before starting the engine. would this be neccessary? like i said i heard this but havent read it anywhere. help please!

if you are breaking the motor in i suggest doing it on a dyno its the best thing you can do in my opinion. now to answer your question, you're going to want to use 30 weight break-in oil poor a little down the compression chambers and then start the car up and drive it around for about 3 days with break-in oil ( if you're not breaking it in on a dyno). after that switch to non-detergent oil and drive the car for a while. then switch to your favorite detergent oil. or go buy this http://www.importbuilders.com/breakinarticle.htm or this http://laskeyracing.com/shop/breakin.htm

im running into the same issue.. i can hear my piston rings scratching the walls whenever i turn the crank. its a fresh built engine not even started yet. would putting some oil into the chamber help?

i've also read in alot of places that on the initial start up that you are supposed to pull the spark plugs or unplug the dizzy.. now wouldnt that let fuel build up in the compression chamber? dont you NOT want that? doesnt the fuel clean the cylinder walls of oil? i have always pulled the ECU fuse out of the fusebox under the hood that way fuel doesnt sit in the chamber.

You can pull the fuse or many programs you can just disable the injectors. Your basically just trying to get some oil pressure in the engine before you start it.
