Default Piston ring question (filing)

I hope this is the proper place to post a question like this. FYI, this question relates to an sr20det piston ring. Im aware its not a honda, but I figure the general priciple behind it may be the same as any other piston ring. Here it goes:

I started filing the compression piston ring today, and I think I may have filed it a little too much. Wiseco recommends .004" per inch of bore. Enjuku Racing recommended .006" per inch of bore and wiseco's instructions state that a larger end gap may be necessary for higher horsepower applications. Well, my end gap on that particular ring is exactly .023" ( which is about .0065ish" per inch of bore) and the second ring end gap is exactly .020" ( resulting in .006" per inch of bore). Is this a huge problem? I'd hate to have teh slightest difference in gaps and have somethin go wrong... Or am I being to cautious? Need be, I can always order a new set of rings from wiseco....Any input is appreciated.

(((Using 3.4055 for the cylinder wall bore inches.)))

you might burn a little bit of oil while your car is warming up but once its warm you will probably be ok. ive ran wisecos before and the were already filed down to my bore size at .020 and it did just fine, so i dont think id worry to much, just more room to grow under high pressure.

My pistons are .020 over and I figured that the rings would be pre-filed but they butted while in the cylinder walls.............

You might be a hair loose at .023" but I think you will be fine. I think I would keep the second gap at about .020"-.021" also. It is not critical in your case to have the second ring larger than the upper.

Thanks Earl, I appreciate your response. You mentioned that I may be a hair too loose, what would result if thats the case? Just burning oil?

I only started filing one piston set of rings, so I can always order one more set to play safe.
