Default Piston Questions, J.Davis (Read)

I'm not to sure about this. But a couple of people are telling that if you have a 1000whp you can buy pistons that support 250whp, because the power is distributed evenly to each piston. Is this true?

Lol i'm guessing this is a retarded question. All i want to know is if power is distributed across all 4 pistons evenly. Sorry for my stupidity . I just put J.Davis becuase i though the might know.

Yea, you have. So what do you think.. do you think the power is distributed evenly across all 4 pistons?

You can have pistons that survive detonation more easily, or reduce the possibility of detonation, but pistons aren't rated for HP.

Whether your pistons could survive making 1000 hp depends on the quality of your tune.

No detonation = no problems.

Even if they advertised pistons with HP ratings, which they dont, they would not list them individually.

to tell if its really spread evenly would be to check the indivisual a/f ratios in each cylinder . since timing and all that **** will be the same. so ive herd cylinders 2 and 3 naturally run leaner.

LOL owned.

As for the question, I dont think they do it often for pistons, but for rods they usually rate them for total horsepower. I've actually never heard that about each cylinder and was also wondering where the hell those guys came up with that?

That's my point exactly. They act as if i'm a moron for asking a simple logical question. I want factual information explaining that stress of horsepower is distributed to all four pistons evenly. For the information, keep it coming.

I think your question should really be:

Does each cylinder ( piston +rod) make the same amount of power? Is hp distributed to each cylinder, or does hp come from adding all cylinder's hp together?
