Default 06' Acura RSX Type-S powered by Peakboost

Well, first off, some of you guys may have seen some of my old threads on my turbo build. This is the second setup that I had acquired. The first one was just a modified Revhard setup and I was not satisfied with it so I contacted Ken @ Peakboost and had them build a kit for the RSX. I in turn received the first ever production kit for the RSX.
I waited awhile to install the kit because I decided to go a bit more extreme than I originally planned to. So now over a year later and over $12k lighter the build is done. I do have more tuning and a few things that I have to change out but that is the easy part.

Now to what I actually have done:

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">
Peakboost Turbo kit
Here is a breakdown of the kit:
T3/44 Sidemount stainless steel Turbo Manifold (Coated by HPC)
44mm Dumptube (Coated by HPC)
3" Stainless 2 pc downpipe w v-band (Coated by HPC)
Garrett GT3076 turbo (.82 AR, .60trim, S-cover)(Exhaust housing Coated by HPC)
Tial 44mm Wastegate
Tial 50mm Blow off valve
PWR 6" x 23.5" x 3" vertical flow intercooler core(total height is 12") (anodized black)
2.5" Aluminum chargepipe kit with PWR Silicon Couplers & t-bolt clamps (Piping powder coated black)
Steel braided oil/feed return lines
All installation hardware, gaskets, & heatwrap
K&N Intake filter

Besides these parts that came with the kit I am going to be running the following:

Hondata Kpro
GM 3bar map sensor
GM boost control solenoid
Peakboost Vac Block
Billet battery tray
Odyssey battery
Innovative Motor Mounts
CC stage 4 clutch
Oil sandwich plate adapter
hondata intake manifold gasket
Thermal 3" exhaust
NKG BKR9EIX plugs
Walbro intank pump
AEM fuel rail
Aeromotive FPR
RC 750cc injectors
-8an stainless fuel feed lines & -6an return lines all with Earls & Russel fittings
Aeromotive 10 micron inline fuel filter
RBC intake manifold
Hondawerx RBC adapter

I know that I am forgetting some of the other stuff but this is what I remember off the top of my head.

</TD></TR></TABLE>

Here are the picture trail of the project:

beginning the install

Day 1 teardown

Fuel system:

heat wrapping, relocating & prepping engine bay

Then after I did this Ken at peakboost called me up and wanted me to run the newer style turbo manifold, down pipe and dump tube. I was about to leave for Europe for school for 6 weeks so I knew I didn't need my car for awhile so I said sure. So he made everything new for me and when I got back from Europe I had this on my door step:

If you notice, the wastegate is no longer at the top of the manifold and the down pipe had more clearance which gave a much better fit.

here is it installed

The finished product of everything together:

The car was Tuned by Jason (aka. St00pid) of Fastlane in Houston.

The car only spent 1 hr on the dyno and needs to go back for alot more tuning. The car is running 400whp @ 280ft/lbs @ 15psi on pump for now. I am going back soon for another 4hrs of tunning when Jason re-opens his shop. We didn't have time on the dyno to lock down the cams and tune for power. We only had enough time to dial in for fuel & boost control really. If you look at the dyno sheet the pull that only shows 352whp was when the car came unstrapped from the dyno in mid pull so the run was cut short. The power was really climbing on that run too. I maxed out my fuel system at 400whp though (or so I thought, ends up we just had the fuel pressure set wrong at 40psi instead of 54psi).

Here is the dyno sheet and a couple of vids

Very nice, looks like a well thought out and clean install. I remember when you posted a while back, glad your getting it done.

Holy ****...nice to see an rsx of that caliber...

I seen your car a few years ago when I went to UL, since then, my friends would mention your car...

Whenever you venture out to Morgan City, hit me up

I made a thread over a year ago but I didn't remember the link and it was dead a long time ago.
I posted this in the RSX forums on hondatech but I was like why not post this in the turbo forum instead, those are the people who would be more interested in it anyways

If you read the first line in the first post I stated that you may have seen my old posts about my car. This was just an update with all the parts of the car shown a bit clearer than the original build thread that dragged on for too long

Oh Tony, how long until you guys have the Bosch 1000cc injectors back in stock??? I can definitely use more fuel than these 750's are giving me

Should have another batch of them in 1.5-2 weeks. Since each injector is flowed, tested for proper battery comp values at the pressure used and paired in groups of 4 that are within 1%, it takes a bit to do a big batch of them.

Yeah, not in a huge rush for them. I still have to get a few things before I go for a retune. I don't need them for another few weeks. As long as I have them for early, mid Nov. I am ok. The car runs fine as of now but I maxed out my 750's way early so I want to go bigger and up my fuel pressure a bit (which is the real reason I ran out of fuel early)

15psi of fuel pressure won't make that much of a difference, you still would have been right on the edge of not having enough fuel.

It wouldn't??? I couldn't believe how early that I ran out of fuel, I was running 98% duty cycle at 400whp.

I am running an intank walbro, -8an feed line, -6 return, aem rail, aeromotive FPR, aeromotive inline filter and a set of RC 750's.

The fuel pressure was set to 40 psi. Aeromotive left my vacuum fitting off when they sent me the regulator and when I was getting on the dyno we threw on vac fitting on and forgot to reset to fuel pressure to compensate for the vacuum (I know, what a brain dead thing to do, just slipped my mind). Without the Vacuum source attached I was running 50psi of fuel pressure, with the vacuum fitting on I was running right at 40psi

You don't base anything off the vacuum FP, you base your calculations on the FP with the vacuum line disconnected, so you really weren't down too far on FP at all. The boost/vacuum reference is just to keep the pressure ratio across the injector constant. When you applied the vacuum to the regulator, the FP goes down as does the pressure at the outlet of the injector by the same rate. When boost goes up, FP goes up as well to compensate for the increase in pressure at the outlet of the injector, so flow remains constant.

It's likely that you were just running pretty rich. RPM eats up duty cycle pretty quick too.

See, this is why I build the cars and bring them to someone else to tune, lol

Yup, still blowing the tires off her. I think it will be pretty soon that I need a new clutch though. Last night my CC Stage 4 was slipping a bit

Nice setup and beautiful car! Reminds me of my friend's RSX in looks, but his had a GReddy kit.

What's up with the boost plot on the 350whp? Is that due to the incident with the strap, or was the boost solenoid set to ramp up the power quicker?

Either way, those manifolds creep like a mo fo. lol Damn.

the 350whp plot was the last pull when about half way through the car came unstrapped from the dyno. The car was still pulling hard when it came unstrapped.

I just tuned our RSX type-s with a 37R on it and with the kpro boost control I was able to hold boost very well with just a 12psi target.

the only "creep" I saw was with the boost controller off, the timing heavily retarded and the afr's super rich(~10.5:1) (lower yellow line). once I dialed the map in and the duty into/outof the selonoid it held a flat line.
