Re: Painting Intercooler? (InfamousRS)
Would painting or poweder coating it black effect heat disapation(sp?)???
EDIT: I'm assuming this task is being considered to cover up the "Steal Me" effect provided by a FMIC. I can't imagine why you would want to paint the ENTIRE IC.

I will probably just stretch some dark panty hose over the intercooler to hid it (someone on this board did that and it hid the intercooler very well).

Dont paint it, because paint is just paint ..color
Theres no element.
I'm still trying to find the post. There was an element coating out there (forgot the name of the company that makes it), that helps the part coated with it
disperse heat faster. If I can remember, the stuff was used on radiators. Baked on powder coat. It came out black and looked anodized. I might've been to an SE-R site when I saw it ..Im not for sure.

Hmmmm...I was thinking about this at work today...what if you sent your intercooler to get anodized black? Is there any companies out there that do anodizing? Does anyone see any draw backs to this? It wouldn't add any material to the exterior of the intercooler so I don't see how it could effect the head disapation of the intercooler... anyone have any thougts to this?

Chipped black intercooler
Most likely any front mount IC on a street car will get hit by stuff.
Baked on powder coated would be best, but there's only one powder coat I've seen that actually helped disperse heat, and it had a black anodized look to it.

Re: Painting Intercooler? (The Mole)
will panty hose obstruct airflow? because i'd rather slip a pair of panty hose over the intercooler and be able to take if off. where as painting it, i would have to strip off the paint (pain in the ***) if i change my mind.

Re: Painting Intercooler? (asdewq)
yeah it on point ek that wrapped the panty hose around the intercooler, couldn't see it at all, and no it didn't restrict air flow at all.
