Default Painting Block? Head?

I know this the wrong forum, but I have seen a couple painted motors lately. What did you use? How did you do it? How many coats? Etc.? Thanks in advance.

polish it! paint will probably flake off eventually. and if its a light color then it will get dirty fast..........yellow, white, milano red.

there is a guy on my block who powdercoats them for $40 - 50 Canadian

damn this 'paint your engine and tranny' is getting pretty popular all of a sudden? classic hotrod stuff though...just use engine enamel and make sure the parts are really free of oil and dirt and just spray several light coats.

I figured if it is out, might as well spend $25 bucks (I don't know how much paint costs) and make it look good too.

Paint costs like $3.50. Swing by wal-mart and get the ford red engine enamel, it looks pretty good. You can pick up silver also and do your whole motor if you want for another $3.50

I guess I should take that into account. I don't want to lose by 0.000020203802 seconds

get high temp enamel paint, 1500 deg C is a good one to go with. walmart has them, i went with the aluminum color. Its a good idea to clean the block completely before painting, and after doing so take a wire brush adapter that will fit into your drill and brush the block up then clean up any residue with water. let dry, tape off then paint in LIGHT coats until you are happy, 3 or 4 usually does the trick. The only downfall to this is you cannot use simple green or any cleaners on it or it will eat the paint off. i havnt had any problems with it peeling off or chipping, but if you paint your block and tranny yellow... well then we will all kill you

here is my block after we painted it:
