Default Painted Intercooler Performance?

Hey I am interested in painting my intercooler black but dont know whether or not it would have any affect on the performance of the unit. Does anybody have any information on this? I tried doing a quick search but nothing came up...

All information is greatly appreciated, thanks.

i wanted to do the same thing. from searching i found a couple of threads. most said that a light coat of black would not affect the cooling capabilites that much. but i cant remember if you had to use a certain type of paint.

i believe there is a special type of "radiator" paint that supposedly doesn't hurt the dissipation of the heat..

Or very little. It has high heat conductivity. Or just get some epoxy appliance paint and put a very THIN coat of paint on there. Make sure the IC is degreased before you use it so it bonds to the IC.

::Edit::
Just don't get the paint down inside the core and you should be fine. Most of the cooling of the air charge happens in there anyway. If you just get a little on the surface it shouldn't really matter. Spray the IC from the sides and not directly from the front. Spray one coat from the left side and then the next from the right.
