Default overheating?

okay, my temp gauge has been showing that i have been overheating a lot...the thing is, when i open the hood, everything looks all good. like tonight, the needle was in the red, but i looked at the overflow tank and nothing. i also have my fan hooked to a switch, so i know it cant be running that hot. could it maybe be my intercooler getting in the way? could it be that my gauge is just reading everything wrong?

Your thermostat might be dead or a host of other things. Feel your upper radiator hose and see if it gets hot after your car is warm. You should feel it get hot when the thermostat opens and get cooler when it closes off.
