Out with the old...

...and in with the new!

Since acquiring the turbocharged integra, I decided that the Civic had enough boost for its lifetime.. and needed it to turn it into something that would be fun to drive, yet reliable and fuel-efficient (and for something to drive when the Integra is in the shop). Something I could drive fast for long periods of time without having to have my eyes on a million meters to be sure that everything is okay
So I picked up this 1998 JDM B20B engine.. in mint condition, taken out of a front-cut CRV from Japan that arrived here on a boat a few days ago. Nothing extreme, i'll be removing the B20B head, and putting the top half of a B16A head on top, setting the C/R to 10.6:1, along with a very good ROM that my friend is using on his similar-spec CRVTEC.
I'm actually happy that i'm getting this, because i've always wanted to have a DOHC VTEC engine in my Civic ever since I bought it 4 years ago. My dad will be driving this car as well as myself, so I'll have to make the exhaust quiet.. install softer suspension, raise the car up a little bit, and install a soft and easy-to-use clutch.
Its sad to see the turbo go, but I'll be forever working on the Integra to make it as fast as a daily driven turbocharged teg can possibly get
Many loved my sleeper turbo sedan, and i'm going to miss the feeling of boost, a screaming wastegate, and blow off valve sounds.. but I'll be hearing a new sound, the sound of "trumpets" which I never heard before on the SOHC VTEC
The civic will become my spare car.. thinking of whether I should put the stock rims back on too, just to scare those who wouldn't be expecting it..
Someone please justify my decision!
I feel bad doing it.. but I'm looking more for reliability than just crazy-*** power..

Has been through utter hell and should be in a musem somewhere with a essay talking about how proper fuel management is where its at. Mad Props!
One question I never did see you answer is did you ever run it at the track? What was the times?

I'll buy tour turbo manifold and pay shipping to the US....
let me think about it first
as there is someone interested in buying this engine complete with the turbokit..
if they don't want to buy it anymore.. i'll consider..
i'm selling the engine and everything for US$1400 (not including Link Engine Management, and no intercooler - Just get a starion intercooler, and it will fit perfect)
The best time i've ever run here was 13.7 sec @ 182km/h - that was pushing the little SOHC VTEC at 1.6 bar (almost 24psi) with full interior on street tires - so maybe that could have been an 11 sec timeslip if it was running in the US.. maybe you can work it out from the speed I'm at when passing the 1/4 mile mark..
Definitely a mid-low 12sec pass. 11sec possibly with enough traction and less weight
Good stuff
