Default open wastegate?

I'm having problems boosting and I think that my wastegate might be open? How can I tell if it is? Should I be able to move the arm? If so, in what direction would be open? I've got a 14b with the stock internal wastegate.

Thanks

check it out. if your wastegate is open no boost. if it's slightly open, never closed, slow to get boost and max psi.

Hey, thanks for the page. Yeah, I just finished installing my turbo and I'm getting no boost, so i think that the wastegate is open. But I wanted to see how I could tell. i'm going go with that picture and compare it to my car. I hope that's the reason, then I can fix it and continue on my quest to boost.

Thanks

yeah it could be your wastegate, but make sure to check all vacuum points, fittings, and piping to be sure

Yeah dude, I seen that. But I was having my problem before I put a rag on mine. I hope that's the problem. But I couldn't boost at all...not even 1 psi. So I don't think that it's that. I did however remove the actuator arm of the wastegate and the engine rev'd very nicely. I used to not be able to red line at a stop...but now I am. So I'm going to put the 450cc's back in, the resistor box, and the map limiter and remove the rag from the compressor and leave the wastegate off. If I boost, then I'm going to put the wastegate back on. And then see if I still boost. I'll hopefully get all of that done tomorrow.

Thanks
