Default open dpipe issues?

i just recently finished my custom turbo install on my 98 civic ex

i'm running a t3t4

problem is...after taking the car around for the first spin...i realized the turbo is making any boost...

i thought it was an insane boost leak...but i checked everything...everything is on nice and tight

i took the car to a local tuner shop and i was told that my lack of a downpipe currently isn't providing enough backpressure that my lil sohc motor needs to spool a biggie t3t4...

any opinions??

thanx

to the left of the turbine blades is there a hole for an internal wastegate?if so cover it up with somehting, like a downpipe flange.all the air is coming out of that hole and you are losing ALL of the pressure to build boost

Open downpipe rules as long as you have a good manifold and wastegate. If not you will see boost creep.

On the whole back pressure thing the turbine blades combined with the turbine housing provides backpressure LOL

I second that.......sounds a bit loud for me but it's awesome feel.

Name the shop so H-T members don't go there.
