Default Oil light on at idle only. please help

My oil light is coming on only at idle. If I tap the gas just a little tiny bit it goes off. It only seems like it is on below 1000 RPMs at idle. I noticed it yesterdeay for the first time. I checked the oil and it was filled to the proper level. I drove the car all last night and no oil lights at all. Well this morning after driving the car for like 30 minutes or so, at idle I noticed it once again. Could it be the pump? or a sensor smewhere? The motor only has like 3000 miles on it. Its a LS-VTEC block with a GSR pump. Ay info willbe appreciated.

Do you have an oil pressure gauge by chance?

Yeah Jr, you wanna get a gauge on that. Take it to Shad and have him put a gauge on it to check it, let the car cool up at Abacus for a while and have him check it. Was the pump brand new when it was installed, hopefully the bearings are all straight. Gimme a call

I had the same problem and it was my main bearings. Does ur vtec works when oil gets hot. If it doesnt, then u know what the problem is. Take ur oil pan off and chech if there is any metals in there. look for copper materials. I hope this helps

Generally, low hot idle oil pressure is due to either incorrect bearing selection on rebuild (too wide) or worn main bearings.

What bearings did you use in the rebuild? I would bet money they were the wrong size.

Man this is getting depressing. Ive noticed the past couple of nights when I tried getting on i it just didnt feel right. Im almost positive that vtec wasnt engaging. This just goes to prove that I have no vtec due to low oil pressure. The car is parked until saturday. Ill be trailering the car over to Tony at Jotech and have them go in and fix it up. Depending on how bad teh damge is I may just fix it and then get out for good . All I can do is hope its something small. After reading all these posts it sounds like Polk Performnce in Arkansas rebuilt the block wrong. I guess ill know more on saturday.

How much pressure, if any, does the engine have when the oil light comes on?

I believe its less than 10 psi. It may even be even less than 5 psi. Its going to Jotech saturday. First were gonna install a oil pressure gauge to verify the drop in pressure. Hopefully we wont have to go inside the motor but from the looks of it thats what im planning for .
