Default Oil on front of block!

Well, i recently installed my first turbo..and I have a leak.

THe return fitting is dry, and so is the feed. I have oil right in front of the block, splashed up on my CAI and other misc parts of the engine, so I think its coming fron the back of the turbo, it uses about 2 quarts per 200 miles. I'm not positive if its the turbo, or the fact the drain line is slightly upward sloping. 10an, w/ earls fittings.

any help is appreciated on to what this may be or other possibilities!

he says its faster than ****. I traded him a Zex kit for that turbo, a manifold and DP that I made for him...when I had the turbo on my car, it was flawless....

Your oil drain from the turbo CANNOT be uphill at all unless you've got a pump inline to carry the oil to the pan. At worst, it can be mostly horizontal, but it does need some downward slope. It's entirely gravity fed. If it's uphill, the oil never properly drains from the turbo, and eventually (possibly quicly) damages the turbo and oversoaks the seals. I'd fix that first, and see what happens after that.

Good luck,

Ryan P.

i will see, but im pretty sure its in there tight. I suppose boost would push more oil out of the hole vs. not pressing it in tight with a stock engine eh?

actually the amount of oil pressure supply to the block is dependent to the speed of the t-belt spins out the oil pump sprocket...
boost does not necesarily increase oil pressure...

check the oil dipstick, also, clean out the area where the head meets the block with brake cleaner, leave the car at idle and see if you can spot any oil from seeping out..

did you tightened the oil feed line to the fitting on the turbo ?
did you use teflon tape ?
FYI, you may want to tighten the oil feed line to the fitting on the turbo while the manifold and turbo is out of the car...i.e. not installed yet,. it is alot easier to do it that way than trying to tighten it while the manifold and turbo is installed...t

that's why I gave you an extra extended lines to let you be able to do that..

also, OIL return must not facing upward whatsoever....it has to have the least and downhill pattern as it is only drawn back to the oil pan by gravity...

i will check the dipstick, all the lines are very tight, used teflon tape (the fittings are ALL dry)

so do u think it might be the return?

thanks again guys!

thanks for the lines stan!

mike, i didnt know the return was UPHILL...i took it as it wasnt straight down...
you need to rotate that bad boy, then you should be fine(if the seals arent completely gone by now)
try that, and good luck man...
oh and YES its the return line

thanks again guys,

i think its should be at 10 lbs of tq. the gasket will leak if it is tightened to much.

well what would be everyones suggestion for un-******* up the oil pan and having the fitting not "lean" with the slope of the pan and stick straight out (maybe even slightly upwards..

OK I think everyone may be focusing on the new turbo install.

I would take a look into the cam seal. Honda motors are notorious for having leaking seals there. It'll drip down the side of the head and then collect along the mating surfaces of the head and block then eventually make its way across the motor.

true that the cam seals do leak but takes alot to leak down to the block where the oil pan is...gotta relax and kno that only a couple things will cause a leaking prob ...oil feed, oil return, turbo itself (highly doubtful), oil pan gasket...check and replace all gaskets and tq everything to specs and u should be good....did u replace gasket with new one....many ppl stick with the old one to save 20 bucks...

i had the same prob. umm wat i did was rotate the turbo center section so the oil return outlet faces towards the pan and points at a 45 degree instead of straight down. maybe u did this already but just a thought good luck
