Oil change from HELL!
Well yesterday while changing oil me and a friend ran into a real shitty problem.... the oil filter wouldn't come off.... needless to say 3 hours and lots of muscle and inventivness got it off, I wanted to yell at my friend because he tightened it last oil change which is why it wouldn't come off.... HAND TIGHTEN ONLY (according to helms)....
Anyway, he also bought regular 10w30 not synthetic and I was forced to use it. I had been running synth for 3-4 months now and just last night had to make the dratic change back to regular motor oil.... there is nothing detrimental about this is there?

You won't have any problems. If your filter gets stuck, get a long philips head screw driver and hammer it all the way (sideways) thru the filter. This will allow you to turn it and get it off. Messy, but it works.
ive had that problem before. i just jammed a flathead into it and pulled on the handle to twist it off. sanding it down didnt help much because it was leakin oil. i think using the regular 10w30 oil is alot better than synthetic IMO.

Am I the only one that uses an oil filter wrench? I handtighten as far as I can, then use the wrench to turn about another 1/2 turn. And it makes removing the filter later WAYY easier.
I haven't found one that fits the Honda filter belive it or not! I've checked all the O'Reillys...
yeah i use the filter wrench too. It's a piece of cake to take a filter off with one. It's like a clamp with the loose end attached to a handle so you can twist it one way and itll tighten down on the filter then you push it and it unscrews really easy. Hard to explain but it's a really simple design. theyre cheap.
ironically i had the same problem....last bastard to do my GFs oil did it wrench tight, coudlnt get it off the damn block....
ran up to sears and got a craftsman universal oil filter wrench ($12.99)
this thing is sweet! saves you time and busted knuckles!

No its not true but you shouldnt be switching back and forth all the time. Last time I did my oil change I couldnt get my oil filter off and I coudlnt manage to hammer a screwdriver thru either...no damn room to swing so I just drilled a hole then used a screw driver. Damn oem filters are strong. When I had to do this on my friends car w/ his fram filter the screwdriver went thru pretty easy.
u gotta use one of those oil filter caps. you can connect a socket wrench to it. gets the most stubborn oil filters out.
snap on, mac tools, S&K, stanley, matco all make oil fiter taker offer tools. look like a handel and a metal circle strap. you can probably get one at advance auto or someplace like that too
