Default Oil catch can necessary?

I was wondering if somone could explain exactly wat an oil catch can system is and/or if i absolutely need one for my edelbrock kit on my d16y8. I kno that it prevents blow by and helps to keep your octane level higher, but thats about it....... thanx

A 5 second search for "PCV" yeilded 6 recent threads. The one you should be reading is the first one on the list:

why does everyone make a big deal when someone asks a question? you're the one who's taking your time to bitch at him about using the search, when u can just answer his question. its not like he pmed you asking you, so he aint wasting your time, you're wasting your time

No only are they wasting their time, they waste mine when I come to see the responses posted and instead there are a bunch of morons yelling. Check the forum rules, it specifically says NOT to tell people to search. The reason is, it clutters their redundant questions with even more useless crap.

preach on, even a simple explanation and telling them to search further would be good.

to the poster, catch cans are a great thing to have, they are not totally necessary but then again good fuel management isnt totally necessary either, my point is that even if you dont 100% need to have it, its still a great idea to have it and will more than likely lengthen your engines boosted life, because even though you are just getting an edlebrock kit i wiould be willing bet you will move on to something bigger in the future and a catch can will be beneficial to ANY turbo setup large or small. now go search on how to setup a good catch can system as they are a little tricky and alot of people have a hard time grasping the concept.

I think you may need to check your safc "tune" man.

first off i never have blown any rings. second, the majority of boosted hondas use catchcan systems, those who dont usually run into problems, or dont run that much boost. thirdly my "tune" is on a s200b and i can bet dollars to donuts i know a lot more about what im talking about than you just based on your comments.
