Default The Official help sam finish his kit thread

Hey everyone,

So I finally took the plunge today and bought a partial kit from a local forum.
Here's the rundown...

Cast log-style manifold (unknown brand) IF YOU KNOW WHAT BRAND MANIFOLD THIS IS, PLEASE POST, THANKS!

Garrett a/r .50(cold) a/r .63(hot)
Tial 38mm wastegate with "small blue" spring inside which their website claims 8.7lbs
Greddy BOV (unknown model) < How would I check for this?
IC piping (2 1/4" I.D) and an unknown brand intercooler

The Garrett is in decent shape, but I would feel safer to get it rebuilt. There is a bit of shaft play and the intake fins are rough. Where do you guys recommend I get it rebuilt? What price range do you guys think I'll be looking at?

I'm not even sure what model turbo this is. I'm guessing it's an t3/t4?(will post pics soon)

Fuel. What do you guys recommend? 440s? 550s? Will stock pump suffice?

Piping. Where can I get piping online? Bends, straights etc. My good friend will TIG all of it, so it doesnt have to come pre-welded

This will all be installed in my EM1 with the stock b16a2 and at all cost ac must be retained, with that said, will a 2.5" downpipe clear?
Anything else you guys would like to add, please feel free

Thanks!!

edit, pics

UPDATE 1
Picked up some RC 550s today, dropped it off at the turbo shop to get cleaned and flow tested.

Good and bad news for the turbo. Good news is the housings arent damaged, the bad news is someone before me that had the turbo had it rebuilt by a shoddy *** shop. Apparently the turbine wheel isn't even a garrett part, it's a knockoff. He'll give me estimates tomorrow

UPDATE 2
Bought the Walbro 255 and a whole bunch of turbo gaskets, downpipe flange and piping

Still waiting to hear from the turbo shop on the extent of the rebuild

UPDATE 3
Sent my ecu off to get chipped and get a basemap today

This turbo is kicking my ***. For some reason the last shop that did the rebuilt, gipped the **** out of the last owner and put a Master Power turbine wheel/shaft and exhaust housing.

Now my shop is trying to find a garrett shaft/turbine wheel that will fit this housing but no luck thus far.

He's also trying to find the rebuild parts from Master Power for plan B if he can't find find a garrett shaft that will fit.

UPDATE 4
Parts from Treadstone came in today!! Damn that was fast!
misc gaskets, flanges,Tial .5 bar wastegate spring

GUYS I NEED YOUR HELP
This is all the piping that came with my IC. IS THIS ENOUGH?? Do I need to buy any more piping?

Also the smaller 90 degree bend is 2.5" dia while the rest is 2.25" WTF, can I make this work? What should I scrap and keep?

IF worse comes to worse I have to buy a new turbo. Which of these is the best for the price?

Question is...which? Are these both AC friendly with the log?

If the wheel is damaged it will most likely need to be replaced, just a warning.

yeah, I realized that. I just wanted to get an estimate to see if I should junk the turbo or if it's worth getting rebuilt

There is a place in Canada I recommend for rebuilding. Don't know the name but I should be able to find out.

You will have to most likely cut on the block some for the turbo to fit. Won't hurt anything just figured I would let you know. 440-550s would be fine I would go ahead and get a walboro to be on the safe side.
You can buy piping kits from company's like Treadstone which have pretty much everything you need to bolt it up.

Hope this helps, and good luck!

If you are looking for aluminum piping hit up Stan at fast turbo and tell him I sent you he is a real cool guys and he can get you the injectors and walbro too.I would get a bit bigger injectors because we always say we arent going to tiurn up the boost but we always do you can tune the injectors to run fine just get bigger ones so they will be one less part to purchase later.

stock fuel pump is good up to 200-220whp. 440cc injectors will get you to about 350whp with 60psi fuel press.

So do you think 550s is overkill? Should I get a walbro 255 just to be safe?

I am going to tell you this if you are the type to switch cetups often or you will eventually want to make more power then buy bigger injectors and the walbro. They used to be a sponsor on here and I have been buying stuff from him for ten years. The website is fast-turbo.com you can search some of his old threads they are still on here but I would call him instead he will explain everything to you and he is a real cool guy not trying to just sell you a bunch of parts.

Im not one to switch setups often but I'll most likely upgrade to a 255 and 440s now just to save time in the long haul

I'm thinking if the repair cost is more than $400, I'm just gonna junk it. There's a vendor on here that sells the same garrett turbo with the same specs for $599 shipped

what do you guys think?

Try the market by putting it out there or search for one.

Man I miss boost. I think you have a good idea and setup. 550's and a walbro pump should be good to go. I was pushing 248whp @ 12psi through my greddy turbo with those injectors and stock pump.
