OBD0 fuel management options
I've got a b18a (OBD0) CRX and i was wondering what everyone is running for management? It's 7lbs daily driven. What's everyone running, or what would you suggest? (injectors, pumps, rails, controllers)Price is also a concern here, as i'm a student
anything, any sites, or any advice would be great

Re: OBD0 fuel management options (civicmark)
i would say afc, dsm 450's, dsm fuel pump...since yur a student thats a cheap way to go but a 190 pump would be better....i use that setup on my crx at 6psi and gives my car plenty of fuel....and maybe look into a BTM to retard boost to keep detonation down when in boost....

Re: OBD0 fuel management options (Trini EF Racer)
as soon as i get my *** in gear i'm going ghettodyne with stock fuel maps, but retarding timing for boost.. then the afc hack.. cheap, but quality too.
J. Davis - I tried again to get my ecucontrol working but all it gives is a value of 0$ for the number read and nothing works.. any thoughts?

Re: OBD0 fuel management options (Trini EF Racer)
that's cool.. do a search on "AFC Hack" and start reading up on it.. also http://www.ghettodyne.com .. it's a way of chipping an OBD0 ecu and burning a new prom that changes fuel/ignition maps.

Re: OBD0 fuel management options (Trini EF Racer)
Spike, you are going Ghettodyne and then the hack?
Hack = 450cc injectors & S/V-AFC piggy back unit
Ghettodyne = larger injectors, typically 450cc, chipping your ECU with a ZIF socket and burning roms for fuel and I believe timing.
Ghettodyne is very close to ZDYNE thus the name but lacks the solid foundation and has a few quirks. Although the difference in price makes up for a lot of that. Also, since ghettodyne is in its "infant" days, it can only get better and there is continually improved support and other users running it daily. It looks like there will even be datalogging built in soon which the more expensive alternative will never have(or refuses to add, not quite sure what is going on there)
Goto:
http://www.ghettodyne.com
http://www.ecucontrol.com
http://www.pgmfi.org
but read and learn and be willing to pitch in before you start posting and asking for help...
other alternatives i have found for myself for OBD0
EFI PMS <--- new system coming out soon, close to $1300
ACCEL DFI
i am still trying to decide myself...i was going to go with the solid ZDYNE foundation but now i have switched my focus to Ghettodyne, NOT for price, but I REALLY REALLY want to be able to datalog as I am taking the NJ tuning seminar in a few weeks and hope to be able to tune on my own!
Please post others you have used/like/know about...

Re: OBD0 fuel management options (xenocron)
Just asking but why would you need to run the hack if GhettoDyne takes care of the injectors? I am planning on going turbo in B18A CRX as well. All I was going to run was The AFC Hack and 450cc fuel-wise. Any opinions on this set-up? Or what I am not including?

Re: OBD0 fuel management options (J. Davis)
I have read that they have not made corrections for the fule values or someting for the DOHCs.... So unless you run it a certian way it just takes a dump on you... thats on only for the DOHC GHD users.

I think JD took care of that, although he said it was a PITA...and I think Mike is error checking his DOHC calculations before he releases it, making sure that it is all safe...

Re: OBD0 fuel management options (xenocron)
No, I have a kludgy workaround that involves swapping maps in a hex editor.
Mike R. already has the fix coded, he was just giving it thorough beta testing as he was paranoid about some of the math involved. He's a good dude like that

Yeah, all you guys are
Without all the work you guys have done, I'd probably be shelling out $950 when the time comes for you know what!

Also, you can think about Hondata and a conversion harness. PRetty inexpensive choice too.

Re: OBD0 fuel management options (beta13)
i would personally get blown90hatch's conversion harness to obd1. that's what i did and it was simple to set up. jason gives you very detailed instructions and is always willing to help you out if you have a problem with the install. that way you can always run hondata to. for jason's obd0-obd1 harness.

Re: OBD0 fuel management options (madeiniraq)
I'm not sure how backed up J. Davis is but he chipped mine and setup datalogging via ECUControl for me. for J. Davis helping me out, even though I haven't messed with it much yet !

Re: OBD0 fuel management options (spike)
since i'll be running a JRSC and stock map.. i can use the vafc as a boost guage too... I won't have to worry about boost creep ya know..
yeah.. anybody wanna burn a chip for me.. i guess i should go to pgmfi forum.

Cheap in some peoples eyes. Cheaper then speedpro. Cheaper then Motec.

Re: OBD0 fuel management options (Blown90hatcH)
Yeah but are Speedpro and Motec good viable options for us OBD0 crew?
Hondata is a good choice IMO, if you already have an OBD1 machine...but converting and buying Hondata costs WAY too much and there are too many other problems that can result from upgrading just to run it...
