Noise from forged pistons
Forged pistons produce more engine noise that cast pistons.
But does any one have a wav files to drop so I can compare it to my recently built FI sohc vtec.
Or give me an idea of actually just how noisy they are? I'm the only one down here running forged pistons (except for the dinosour guy's of course).

hmm...my car has always sounded like a diesel and it doesn't even have forged pistons yet...I htiught it was just a Honda thing because my CR-X sounded the same way.
What type of pistons are you using? Arias pistons are notorius for having loud piston slap issues, mine sound like a deisel but I havent had any problems from them.
I have had both JE and Endyne rollerwave pistons, both of which when cold clatter a bit like a diesel motor but when warm, the clatter is barely noticeable. They DO sound different, that is true.

honda engines, like all other aluminum engines, sound horrible because aluminum has very poor sound supression. If your block was built out of iron you'd have no such noise problems.

I think it's the forged piston's (relatively) massive piston-to-wall clearance that is to blame for the rattle...not the fact that they are forged. If you ran forged pistons with cast piston clearances, you probably wouldn't have the noise, but you'd have the Black Death.
