Default no wastegate movement, normal?

I just got my 14b turbo in the mail (last piece needed to begin install!), however I was trying to clean up the turbo a bit and noticed that wastegate doesn't move at all.

I do not know if this is normal, but it seems like it should move with some presure. I am just using my hands to try and open it. Trying to move the bar that runs to the wastegate and from the inside of the exhaust housing, trying to push out on it.

Any ideas?

thanks

It's pretty hard to open, are you trying hard enough?

Yeah, you gotta pull it pretty hard to open.

You should be able to open it without too much pressure...

Are you pushing or pulling on the actuator arm?

If you can't move it at all I would get it fixed before you install that bad boy..

You don't want it to not open up when it should ...you don't want to overboost and blow your engine.

Thanks for the reply's.

I just got back and gave it another shot, using my hands it takes every bit of effort I have and I can get it to open. So I am happy it moves

Using a screwdriver wedged between the arm and the turbo I can get it to open up and close without a problem.

So safe to install? or should it be easier to open?

depends on the weight of the spring as well...it its set for high boost, then the spring weight would naturally be more heaver and harder to open.

If anyone has any reason why this turbo and this engine should not be joined, please speak now, or forever hold your piece.

do it! ',8 pounds is pretty heavy. It took me a strong push with 2 thumbs to move the plunger on my Tial w/ 7lbs spring. And even then, it moved very slightly.
