Default no vacuum at idle

I have a friend with a gen 2 RX-7 on standalone that he just put in. He tells me he has no vacuum, he pulled a vacuum line and it blew air not sucked air..... He has had a few people who sell the standalone to look everything over and they can't find the problem. The car idles like ****, barely revs etc....

I heard someone say a faulty wastegate(he has a tial 38mm) is the cause it can be open a little and causing problems??? what do you think? He doesn't even have the vacuum line hooked up to it

Umm something doesnt make sense about any of that. A motor is just a vacuum. So unless you have a turbo creating pressure or blowing air in, then it should always be sucking in air.

A motor blowing air out instead of creating a vaccum defeats the whole purpose of internal combustion motors.

yea what?
no vaccum... that doesnt make anysense the motor can be pushing air out of a vaccum line... if the engine is pulling in anyamount of air through the manifold with the throttle plate closed there is a vac... and if there was alarge enough vac leak the vehicle would just rev to death

Tuning has nothing to do with your vacuum being higher or lower

your telling me an a/f ratio of 9:1 vs a a/f of 14.7:1 will idle the same. I know my car idles like crap when its too rich at idle

too rich/lean AFR will cause poor idle and low vacuum. FACT

The motor has to be pulling some vacuum to run

So besides pulling the vaccuum line, does he have a boost gauge (I hope if he spent all that money on a standalone - he does) to see what the actual vaccum reading is?

I second a vaccuum leak. My friend had one and asked me to check out his Touring model for a rougher than normal idle. Vaccuum line slipped.
