Default no boost

hiiiii i just turboed my del sol, d16z6.. i took it for a drive (no boost gauge) and could not hear the turbo spool, or feel any power, and the bov never did its thing. i checked the manifold for an exhaust leak, seemed fine-then i checked the piping-fine as well and then i checked the wastegate and found a small leak coming from the manifold to wastegate flange..

i took it apart and realized the flange on my manifold was flat, but the wastegate i had has a ring (firering?) and it is not flush with my manifold flange.. (see pic below how ring sticks out).. could this be my problem? would i just need the flange that the fire-ring seats into on the manifold? also if this has anything to do with it- the car does not have the o2 sensor installed, and the VSS is fucked.

tia.

1st pic: ring isnt in yet.

2nd: ring

3rd: ring does not sit flush when on the wastegate.

how do you have the ring siting in the wastegate, maybe you have it flipped upside down?

oh god u kids.... the ring isnt suppsoed to seat until u bolt the wastegate down.. that is what puts pressure on the plunger and makes the wastegate seal.

Did u get everything else taken care of?

All go teg, hows ur **** running?

you'll make it. you did it before, no reason why you couldnt help someone out and do it again. especially since i paid you 40bux to put in a oil line.. :thumbups:

if i get this flange to the far left.. and put it on my manifold, could that solve the problem?

it should seat as is. Try pushing the plunger in and see if it moves.

well if the plunger does move, the ring should push into the wastegate and push the plunger in as you bolt the wastegate down

i just sat the wastegate down on a table.. put the ring in it, pushed down.. and its flat on the table. im wondering why its not like that on my manifold?? ive bolted the wastegate down as hard as i could.. and it still wont go in perfectly unless the gasket im using is too thick and its making it not go down anymore? now that i think about it this gasket is thick..

and could this actually be the problem why im not getting boost?

yeah its kind of tough going down depending on ur wg spring pressure and make sure the ring is in the right way the smaler diamater part of the ring needs to be facing the wg

if u can push it flat on a table, then it will bolt flat on the manifold given the flanges arent horribly warped. (they would have to be crazy warped)

i heard it spool a little I THINK.. but i dont have a downpipe or anything yet so it was hard to tell.... i just pushed the plunger down and the ring set flat when i did that, but when i let off the ring popped back up again. im wondering if the gasket is ******* with it on the manifold..

dont put a gasket between the wastegate and the manifold. Just bolt it straight to the mani.
