Default Nitrous Users... Check this out!

I used nitrous for over a year, never had any problems like the vast majority of N20 users... but then I saw this and was blown away, granted there were serious problems with the installation but I think people should be aware of the potentially disastrous effects that a bad installation can incur.

What the ****!?!

very old news, but yeah not wise to heat a bottle full of heavily pressurized gas.

Took it out of my car over a year ago when I went turbo It was fun for awhile, but turbo is just so much more fun. N20 was safe, cheap, and somewhat effective though(65 shot dry)

I saw that a couple years ago and STILL find it hard to believe that a Nitrous bottle got hot enough in a garage to blow up...and also to believe that it did that much damage if it did. It looks like its burnt everywhere like from a fire. IDK, maybe it is true but its hard to believe.

I thought nitrous oxide was non combustible or flammable.

its not.... they left the heater on and the pressure inside the bottle got too high and burst....... similar to a drano bomb

I think when I read into that years ago there was something brought up about an insurance scam.

i had nitrous for the past year, until i got sick of it and went turbo. For the most part i enjoyed except the time it backfired on me and blew my intake and hoses off. and the time me and friend were coming back from snowboarding and i guess the heater switch got turned on, anyways the bottle got like twice as hot as it is supposed too and then the relief valve opened and scared the liviing **** out of me. After that i was done with it, but it was fun while i had it, but turbo is much better and safer and legal.

nitrous needs a catalyst such as gasoline to make it ignite..

nitrous has to be heated up to the point that the molecule seperates. when it seperates you get 2 nitrogen atoms and one oxygen atom, thats where the power comes from, by weight there is 2x the ammount of oxygen as there is nitrogen, more oxygen means you can burn more fuel.

I was at a race back home once it was all Outlaw Pro Street V8's there but as I was walking past this crews trailor they had sit about 10 full bottles of nitrous out in the sun. I guess maybe to heat them up a little well one of them the relief valve opened up on it and it scared the **** out of me and about 10 other people everyone jumped. The crew for that one particular car just laughed.

your absoluteley right, but im saying it wont ignite without gasoline or some other catalyst...this is wat brings its temp up to split the molecules. n20 by it self cannot be ignited or set on fire.

Exactly, that explosion would have been caused by the bottle being over-pressurized. Not a flame explosion, just pure force from pressure.
