Default nitrous tuning questions.....

whats up guys,
im planning to run some pretty serious nitrous on my all motor set-up. I want to run a 150 wet shot, but had a couple questions about tuning. first, when i get the car tuned, should i get it tuned for motor first, then for the spray (becasue the motor is modded ie cams, pistons, rods)? or just go ahead and save some dyno time and tune in on spray. Also,if i tune the car for nitrous, will the car run horribly rich when not using the nitrous (like will the car suck when not on the juice). never have went this route before,i was turboed before,so any insite on a serious nitrous set up will be appreciated.

Also, kind of a follow up question. Im going to try to wire the nitrous to kick in right when vtec kicks in. first has anyone ever done/heard of this? i plan to just wire to solenoid into the signal wire (white correct?) on the Vtec solenoid, should that work?

thanks guys

is it a dry or a wet kit? if its wet, then it supplies its own fuel and the only thing u have to worry about when not running it is retarded timing. tune it NA, burn a chip, then tune it on bottle with less timing.

There are a few ways you can go about it. I don't know what EMS you are running (becasue you did not state). But let's just say you are running the S200 (HONDATA). Now I don't know if you are driving this car on the street or just on the track, so that will kind of come into play with how you tune it, because if it is just a track car you will most likely now run anything but like 112 octane in it. But anyways, the new chips (27SF512) can have two different tunes on them. You will need to get the socket that is used to switch over to the other tune/map via ground/power activation. So what you can do is essentially the same as the boosted cars that have a low/high boost map. Then in the S200 you can use the nitrous activation that is built in. Basically you can set it on speed [as close to when the car turns to the high map (VTEC engagement)]. This will allow the car to run under your "normal" all motor map, then with the activation of the nitrous you can trigger the chip over to the "nitrous" map with the pulled timing.

Just remember that you should have an upgraded fuel pump, and for every 50-75hp shot of nitrous have a step cooler plug, and take out that 2 degrees of timing.

It's late and I feel like I am starting to ramble. Hope it helps though.

Good luck,

Jason

HONDATA does not make the decision of the "duel map" chips. They are the new chips that replaced the older 29C256 chips. Go to Moates.net and you can order them there for about $50 each. The chips are what allow you to have both maps on it, not HONDATA.
