NGK Vs. MSD Superconductor Spark Plug Wires?
I'm noticing that NGK has two part numbers for wire sets for B series engines, does anyone know what the difference is?
NGK HE64
NGK HE57
Both are 7mm and direct OEM fit. I'm noticing the HE64 for some reason tend to cost a little more.
Alternatively, what are the thoughts on MSD Super Conductor wires? Is there any improvement with these on turbo builds? They use an 8.5mm wire/jacket which they claim helps reduce interference and wire degredation. Any thoughts or input is appreciated.
Also hello everyone.

Or, a better question, did you understand the post?
I'm asking why there are two different NGK part numbers for B series spark plug wires. I am also asking if there is any performance or reliability benefit comparing the NGK wires to the thicker MSD.

So again, let me try one more time...What are you expecting the MSD wires to do that NGK doesn't? Another question, do you see performance lacking with NGK wires? Are NGK wires not reliable? They have been used for the past what...20 years on this site?

On Amazon, how ever reliable that is, it says the HE57 does not fit a 1999 Acura Integra GS-R or a 2000 Honda Civic Si.
The HE64 says it fits a 2000 Honda Civic Si and a 1999 Acura Integra GS-R.
Where are you getting the info that says the HE57 is for the “B series”?
For more reliable info, maybe check Autozone because their database is more accurate than Amazon.

The MSD red spark plug wires might be a little better. It’s difficult to measure the difference… I remember a long time ago lots of people would upgrade to the MSD red wires, distributor cap, and MSD blaster coil. That was before people did the Coil-On-Plug conversion. It was supposedly better for big HP, like over 400 or more. It didn’t really “add” anything, but supposedly “supported” more of a spark. They are like triple the price so it depends if your set up is not getting a good enough spark. I might add the red MSD wires to my set up at some point in the future.
If you are in the market for a serious plug wire look no further than firecore performance. He doesn’t offer an off the shelf solution for Honda’s but he does custom wires. His credentials are out there if you look a little and he’s been on a couple of podcasts and has no issues with sharing technical information about his wires.
I have used MSD plug wires in the past... way in the past... and once I began using NGK wires, I never looked back. Affordable cost, excellent value and exceptionally reliable. The description for the NGK HE-57 (part #9428) says that they fit the 1990-91 Accord. So this plug wire set will NOT fit a "B" series application.
HE64 VTEC B series engines
HE57 F22A engine
HE82 non-VTEC B18B1 engines
YOU'RE WELCOME
Had a set of MSD wires a while back as well. They went bad out of the blue and I had to drive the car home on 3 cylinders. Not fun at all going no more than 35mph at WOT. lol
