Ive been looking for a semi-quick RELIABLE STOCK daily driver for myself/business. I was eyeing an S2k, but its just too damn much $, especially new.
SO, driving by the Dodge dealership, I saw a nice lil IC hiding behind the grille of a Neon. Went for a drive, and I must say, Dodge out-did themselves on this. Amazing pull for a STOCK car, and even better ,the exhaust is VERY sporty. No mufflers, just a Cat and piping all the way back!
So, more than likely, starting 12/1/03, I will be driving a Dodge Neon SRT-4(I never in a million years thought Id own a dodge
).
BUT, being a true car enthusiast, I could care less who makes the car, as long as its well-built, and has what Im looking for, IM IN!

those are fast. I beat the crap out of one I put lowereing springs on. Did you drive one of the new ones with LSD. I'm not sure if they are out yet but they really spin a lot without one. 17 x 6" wheels too
yes the exhaust tone is one of the best 4cyl stock i have ever heard.
i'm not sure If i would call this car "wellbuilt" though. All the parts seem so flimsy and thin. I do not enjoy working on them because of this.

get a newer one....like the newest production version you can find...cause the first ones had tranny problems...the tranny's would eat themselves for some reason...
but the ones with the lsd are supposibly good to go...
also about the turbo manifold...the only problem with that is dodge...made a strange decision, but probably a cost saving one...the exahsut housing of the turbo is intigrated into the exahsut manifold...so inorder to make a manifold, you would need a new turbo, or in vice versa, if you wanted a new turbo you need a new manifold....
just some fyi....but personally i like them...but i dont like the drivers of them in california...stupid ******...they claim up and down "ITS NOT A NEON"
Man if it looks like a neon, its sold by dodge, its a DAMN NEON....but a fast neon!

its an 04 w/LSD, etc. ya ive got 3 or 4 EXTRA 60-1 turbos from customers that couldnt sell them, so I took them in on-trade for a new manifold
Bolt on a 60-1 w/an SST, push 12.5 psi out of the Tial WG spring, I figure there is an EASY EASY 300whp/300wtq. For Bolt-ons...ahh...FACTORY turbo cars. I may never look back.
I may push more, but I want to read up on the OBD systems used, to see how far back they can trace boost pressures. If they see 18 psi and a rod out the front of the block, the warranty may not hold true
But wait, Im leaving it stock, so I dont have to worry about it

I believe that goffy manifold desighn was do to a lack of room with the new 2.4 motor.
Have you ever looked inside one of them
Thats a stout lookin motor

they did a write up on the motor in motor trend alittle while ago....the SRT4 motors are one of the craziest stock motors i have ever seen....the thing was built to stay together... the rods are crazy for a stock motor...
they did some good work on that motor in my opinion...

Srt 4 is probably in my top 5 choices for a quick D.D but id get a camaro instead even if it is discontinued. (rwd, tq, 6spd, two doors, more respect)

gas mileage
The neon isnt exactly AWESOME, but it just has a nice feeling to it. I went back for a 2nd test drive, and this time turned the stereo on. Im VERY impressed w/the car. I NEVER EVER thought Id say that about a freaking Neon

To each his own. Thats cool. If you love the car noone can steer you away. I havent fallen in love with a car like I have with my gsr. My D.D. is still my 91 mazda protege because i cant find another car that i really like
. Although lately Ive been thinking and my next D.D. will probably look something like this.

lol...I was thinking of forcing my mom to sell me her Xterra, because I LOVE that thing. BUt, its slow, and ya being who I am, I need to get from point A to point B as quickly as possible
yeah my friend bought one about a month back, took it to the track already
and ran a 13.8 (stock as can be), also i heard they offer warrantied upgrades from mopar, a stage 1, a stage 2, and a stage 3 upgrade i believe, all under warranty.

great car, great motor.... good handling. it really is the best car for 20k and under.you will enjoy it. it will be good to you too!
you dotn need a 60-1 and your mani for 300/300.
itll do that with the stock set up. just up the boost some mroe.
stock your only like 60 hp and 30 ft lbs off those numbers.
13.8 is damn impressive. I have seen them go 14's with some mods I think, probably bad drivers though. Hope you enjoy it Cody. Leave it stock, maybe factory upgrades, warranty is nice. What no love for the wagon anymore?
And where are all the srt4 haters? I thought they would show up in this thread.

Maybe who I saw really sucked. And this was at MIR so it wasn't the track, some just can't drive. I think the guy ran like mid 14's on slicks. (it was june, so hard to remember exactly, definately not stock tires though)
What color tinker?
