New Distributor, Now Real Lean?!?
So over the winter, my distributor took a dump on me one morning when I went to start the car. Whatever, so I put a new distributor on the other day, set my timing to 16 and new plugs as well. after a day of driving and boosting, I check how my new plugs are doing. they are LEAN! Okay what the heck.
I have not changed my tune at all.
Timing is at 16
Plugs are gapped to .30 like my old plugs.
My old plugs were ALWAYS a very nice, overly rich look.. (lol) I don't see what's wrong now and how I am running lean.. ANy suggestions? I'm still running perfect 12:1 A/F. The plugs show no sign of detonation, yet... The only thing I can think of is I set my timing wrong(highly unlikely) or that my old distributor was actually retarded a lot more then 16. Here's a pic of my old plugs on the left, vs new plugs on the right. The new plugs turn white right away.

I'm gonig to recheck my timnig again and redo it. maybe somehow I set it to 16 degrees advacned, FROM 16 so 32.. doubt it tho. I don't think the dizzy can go taht far and again. it sits neutral in the center of adjsutment.
I should also add taht my EGT's are low as well.

I think your new plugs on the right look good. They look really white in the picture, but it could be the camera. They look okay to me...

whats your idle set to?
the colder whether could affect the a/f too. if you idle around 1k then retard it a few degrees, like 14ish. the plugs dont look that bad anyways...but retarded is safer than advanced.

my idle is normall 75-850. lately it's been 650 tho. kinda low but it idles and doesn't stall out. I did set my base 16 degrees timnig at 650 tho instead of 750. Anyone got pics of their plugs similar to mines? I'm jsut boggled why they are so different... These plus are new, is that person correct that I have to drive on them for a few days for the heat to chagne the colour?

plug readin is not done off of the electrode or the arm itself mine look just like that and i am running 12:1 as well on AF. you need to look down inside the plug, there will be a raised ring, look at it with a flashlight it should be a light shade of brown....also to check them you need to do a wide open gear pull like in 3rd and when you get to the top of you rpm band shut the car off then check em, you can check em after the car idles, the timing changes from idle and WOT

if the wideband says its rich and the timing is set right, then dont worry about it. New plugs take a little time to get some color to them
