Neon SRT-4, I'd get it
I just test drove one today, Very nice ride for a Neon. The guy let me take it on the turnpike but there was cop right behind me. Right when i got off the turnpike I let it rip.
First gear, no traction, Boost gauge reads 10psi
Second gear, once it caught traction it moved REAL NICE
The car is bad ***. I would get one if I had the money.
It sounds mean also. There is nothing quiet about it.
Only things I would change is the long throw shifter and the lower it.
Very nice car for under 20,000
Honda really needs get on the ball.
And I really need to get my 15g on already.
Boost is a wonderful thing.

for 20k its a nice car. the only problems being that the car does not come with any kind of LSD, as you were able to notice with no traction in first gear. another thing is the tires have no camber in them what-so-ever which mean it wont handle very well. SCC was able to get mid 14's from this car and they said the hood scoop can be made functional with the cutting of the hood, it actuallys lines up to the airbox perfectly.
the one thing i really liked on that car is its advanced engine management. the car is constantly changing the amount of boost it runs, depending on the air temp, density and of course the octane on your gas from the knock sensor.
still have to give dodge some credit for making a car anyone can afford and still beat out the wrx in the straights

Does anyone know how strong this motor will be?
Dodge is offering a 300hp / 300 tq option from the factory with a full facotry warranty.
I doubt they would offer that much power w/ warranty if the motor was junk.

too bad they only gonna make 5000 this year and 5000 in 2004 (as 2005 model)..then neon will gone forever (replacing by lancer). Dunno what Mercedez thinking..getting rid of cars that's been the most popular buy for dodge since its birth..

jesus christ...you guys only care about hondas and not that car companies huh?
mercedez bought out chrysler and mitsui's been owned by chrysler for ages. Now that mercedez's trying to regroup their market strategies. All of chrysler's car will either be replaced by a different car or give a whole new design. All of their cars are back to RWD configuration and HEMI motors will be put on a lot of their cars. As for Neon, it will be gone from there lineup since Neon is pretty much a rebadged Lancer (aka mirage). They will only make 5000 for the 2004 model and 5000 for the 2005 model. After that...it will be GONE forever.

There is no possible way that Mercedes or Chrysler owns Mistubishi... nnnoooo possible way. Mitsubish is a Japanese company, they don't produce only cars but many other products....

Re: Neon SRT-4, I'd get it
From my recollection, Mits is not OWNED by Daimler, but they do have several joint projects. An example would be the early DSM trio of the Laser, Eclipse and Talon. All were made by Diamond Star Motors in Normal, Illinois. They were all basically Chrysler vehicles, not Mits. Nowadays it's becoming increasingly more difficult to identify a pure make with the engines being made by one manufacturer and sold to others, etc.

Does Mits motors report their own financial statements or are they rolled-up into Daimeler's?
Daimler-Benz owns ~37% of Mitsubishi.

Re: Neon SRT-4, I'd get it (LEON)
Correct me if Im wrong Jeff...
In 2004 there have been rumors/plans to put a LSD in the neon
For info on how well the 2.4 turbo was made go here and read up
http://www.bstockum.com/turboblock.html
and the neon will turn into a 2dr. Lancer as I hear.
And the way I see it the SRT-4 is still a Neon still listed under neon too.
SO ITS STILL A NEON! SO if you get own3d by one.....you got own3d by a neon too! LOL
