Hello All, Im Spank'N New to this site and wanted to say "Hello"!!
Here's My situation....
I have a 2000 Si and I have decided to go the Turbo route! Im doing as much research and getting as many opinions as I can before I do anything, I dont want to make the same mistakes as most novices do.
I was looking into a GREDDY Kit or a Drag Gen 3 Kit, so given my expectations which would you guys/gals suggest:
1. Cost - My budget is 3,000 give or take 500.00
2. I want reliability, hence no major-major boost, just something where I can keep mostly all stock internals and still keep a smile on my face when blowing by people. So I think GREDDY will be the way to go, I want to keep stock boost @ 5.5 psi (I think) and maybe in the future turning it up….From what I hear the Drag Kit is great but its for people who want to due future mods but that’s hearsay.
So if you have any ideas/input, fire away.
THANKS!!

Well, if you do not want the temptation to upgrade get the greddy. The drag kit will make a lot more power, but you'll want to keep adding and adding stuff until you have spent like a million dollars.
Don't ask how I know.

So in dollars and cents what does that mean?? Just Hondata, cause I thought theres more to that particluar setup....
BUT I totally understand you get what you pay for!!!

If you don't want to worry about the blue box and Hondata s too expensive, then get the Drag kit and an Apexi A-VAFC to tune your fuel. Yeah, its a bit more expensive but you can always save longer for that.
Both the greddy and drag are nice kits, but consider sfp. I have their kit on my si and I love it. The manifold is one of the better designs out and comes with a 3year warranty against cracking. It is more expensive though.

I think if you decide on the DRAG 3 kit and get it from Ben he has a warranty on the manifold also. Might wanna check into that, he usually has really good prices on that and other things.
Did Greddy program their blue box to run so ridiculous rich to ensure that there won't be detonation at high rpm? Talk about a huge margin of safety...
First off, FredoSP, WELCOME to Honda-Tech... The best HoMoCo (hehe) information source on the net !
And now, my rant :
Please do not take offense to this, but I never understand why people who want small to moderate power gains, want turbo ? Hell, turbo is for if you want to go FAST, it's kinda pointless if all you want is some PEP, even the Greddy kit, which is known for it's lower output, is still turbo !
If you want low-medium power output, why not just go with a shy budget all motor build up, or even a basic
supercharger kit ?
The Vortec is right there and a S/C is not gonna cost as much as
a properly done turbo kit (If you are turbo, you know what I mean).
Anyways, if you do decide turbo... and OH what a feeling it is...
I would say... the Greddy is too limiting, and the Drag is just too much unless you know you are gonna build a motor.
Good Luck young Jedi....
