Need your opinions
Is $160 shipped a decent deal for a used IHI turbo off of a mx-6? I might buy it from a guy on another forum that I somewhat know. He swears that theres no shaft play and also said he'd include the manifold and all the other stock components. I dont even know what manifold he plans on sending me but I think im just going to go with an hf manifold. I see them for cheaper on ebay but id hate to buy something like a turbo off of ebay. who knows what the hell theyre sending you. Let me know please...
Oh yea, also... Im planning on running about 12psi. Is that turbo a good choice for that kind of setup?

You will have to state what car or engine you are planning to put this turbo on, and what kind of setup you will be running. I personally wouldn't put that turdo on anything. What do you mean you are planning to run 12 psi?

The turbo is the most important component of your projected setup. First figure out your goals, budget, etc. Be consistent and try not to change your plans (this requires some thought) You need to look into whether you want a car for daily driving or hardcore racing, and if you want a turbo that's water-cooled or not, etc. THere's a million and a half figures to look into that's why no one has answered your post. Just because it's a good deal doesn't mean you should buy it. Research turbos and see what will best fit your setup. Find out the trim size of the compressor wheels and see what other people are running and what their setups are; and if this parallels your goals. personally, i would design your setup first and build your kit around the turbo and your goals.

Re: Need your opinions (turboteg2nv)
Alright cool, the car is an 89 civic hatch si. It has a dohc zc motor and im building another zc with h-beam rods and 9.5 compression pistons. If you dont mind me asking, what are the benefits of oil cooled/water cooled? The car will definitly be a daily driver and i want it to be reliable. I dont really have such a big budhet either. Im pretty much looking to keep it around 1000, 1500 for the turbo kit. Any more info you guys could provide me would be great. Thanks.

Water cooled tubros=nice
just keeps ya in check alittle bit more in oil temp and everything...and if I remember I think some where near your throttle body or intake mani there is a water line that works great.
As far as that turbo, your prolly off better buying new... but the price isn't bad for your budget. I like the small quick spool turbo for low boost but remember that turbo if you ever want to turn up the boost more prolly wont be effective.

Re: Need your opinions (antisport)
I would look into a bigger turbo.. Im selling my Garrett T3 turbo with manifold for $225 + shipping.. $160 is a little much for that turbo alone..

^what manifold does that come with?
So, water cooled is a better idea than oil cooled? Yea, this kid was saying that his car ran great with that turbo boosted to 22psi...
