Default Need some help, pushing coolant again.

I think I have blown my 3rd head gasket in like 2 months. Car is starting to push coolant pretty bad and it overheated on me again today.

There is no smoke whatsoever and the car is running like a champ aside from the getting hot thing it did today in town, when it did, I threw on the heater and it cooled right off and never got hot again.

I am using ARP studs, Felpro 3 layer MLS HG, forged bottom end, and the last time it blew, I had the head and block checked for straightness by Edge Brothers in Jacksonville NC (I know some of you sleeved guys on the east cost know the shop and the reputation, they are spot on) and the head was slightly decked to true it. Every thing is perfect but I can't seem to keep a damn HG in the car to save my life and right now, I am on a VERY safe tune with 11.3:1 AFR across the board and only 18 degrees total timing at 10lbs. I am at a loss and just damn tired of pulling this thing apart every two weeks.

What the hell am I missing and if I left out any info you guys need, let me know and I will be glad to provide it.

I also am not a car beater. It sees boost often but not hard and rarely gets revved all the way to vtec xover.

do you copper spray the gasket?

torque spec on head studs ?

is your block o-ringed?

try the fire-ring gasket if you dont have o-rings

what radiator are you runing?

Gasket was copper sprayed, tq'd to ARP specs (can't remember them off the top of my head but it's either 82 or 84 lbft), Block is not O ringed.

What is a fire ring gasket? I would be willing to try that if it has a better resistence to this. I even considered that I could have cylinder walk but they are dead on (at least when it is off)

And last, I am running the stock SI radiator. Thing is, it cools like mad. When it's all together and holding well, I never even make it to the middle of the gauge, I stay one to two ticks below the little T on the temp part so it's usually cooler than it was stock.

Yea dude ditch the felpro and get OEM honda gaskets. I went through 3 of them in less time as you running 10psi on my stock D16z6 With T25 turbo and 450's(AFC Hack. Those Felpro Gasket are absolute garbage for FI applications. once i switched back to OEm the car didn't over heat ever again.

Welp, looks like I will be ordering one of them tomorrow. Someone at the track told me today the same thing. Thanks.

Since we are on the subject at the moment, does anyone know where I could read up on these fire-ring headgaskets? Just curious as well if it would be a better gasket to replace this with than OEM. I am so sick of pulling B series motors apart, this is why I stopped drag racing lol, I got it down to an art and figured I had done it too much.

i think in the mean time just put an oem gasket in there till you get the radiator you will be ok but the rad will def be a good investment

Cool, thanks for all the info. OEM and new rad here I come.

I hope this solves my issues as the car is finally where I want it suspension wise, almost there (a tune away) from where I want it power wise, and I just like it. The little loose ends from having done all this work are driving me crazy right now though
