Default Need rebuild advise/help

Im helping my son rebuild his blown motor...dont want to see our money thrown down the drain...this is what we got...how good will it work ?...what are the advantages & disadvantages...any advice or recomendations is welcome...this is what we got...gsr block & crank, b16a1 twin cam ported head, also have the orig. gsr twin cam Vtech head that can be reused with a little work, he runs a good sized turbo...are stock rods & pistons ok or are we better off in the long run spending the bucks for eagle rods & wisco pistons...also thinking of stroking with Ls crank, but what rods & pistons & head would be best for that...what combination is best & why??...want the power but dont want to sacrifice dependability...this car will be used as a driver but he also wants the power to run it down the track ...please give any tips, suggestions, advice & why so we can understand the reason for it...thanks much for the help !!!

Never hurts to use Forged Internals, Wiseco and Eagle is a good affordable combo.....

Do you know what the turbo setup is? It will help us tell you accurately what to use and what not to.......

If you use an LS Crank you will also have to use LS Rods, use either the GSR or B16 head they will only net you roughly a .2-.3 diff in C/R IIRC, whatever makes it easier.... use the GSR Cams's over the B16 cams or use ITR Cams for a good jump in power.

If its a daily driver make sure you get a rock solid tune on it to help prevent issues.

Well the other side to your problem is this; what is your price limit on the rebuild? That can change a lot of things, because if you are truly a V8 guy (I am myself) then you already know the prices of V8 stuff. Keep in mind that for the most part you will be spending the same amount on this I4 to build the bottom end as it would cost you to do the equivalent to a V8. Sadly, a good set of pistons costs around $500, rods about $300-500, crankshafts can be had cheap $100-200.

Of course there are cheaper and more expensive ways to do things, but we need more info if you plan on boosting more or what your exact goals are. If you want a good daily driver just rebuild all with stock and boost lightly and get a tune. These motors are no different than V8's when you start getting into forged internals and the likes. IT WILL have to be rebuilt sooner than if you went all factory parts.

Parts update...just got a set of gsr scat rods & wysco turbo pistons...he`s going to run the b16A1 head...it has a mild port and polish with GSR dual springs and titanium retainers with GSR cams and gear with the stock B16 intake and a ram horn turbo mani. with a 38mm wastegate and a LAF (loud as f#$@) BOV with a P28 chiped with a good street tune...hope this gives enough info. ditch the street tune and get the car dyno tuned, the tune is the most important part of the build and should not be skimped out on, especially for reliability..... they dyno is the only way to accurately set ignition timing, a street tuners butt is not the way.
