Need Help w/my turbo setup!
I want to do a liquid to air setup on my car. (99 civic si B16A2) Why,because i think you can get lower intake temps, no cutting up your bumper, less turbo lag, and more of a sleeper. These are the parts i have already.
Skunk intake manifold,Skunk cam gears,Random Tech 3" cat,Thermal 3" exhaust,RC 310 injectors,Apexi V-AFC,Walboro fuel pump 255lph,Greddy bov,Tial 40mm wastegate.
These are the things i plan on buying. T3/To4E .60 a/r 57 trim compressor .63 turbine housing,Rev hard forged tubular turbo manifold,MSD inline pump,Vortech FMU,Spearco water to air intercooler part #2-270,water pump part #2-1440,Missing link check valve,MSD 6BTM,Turbo XS boost controller.
I might have forgot something. The intercooler pipeing is going to be custom 2.5" and the down pipe will be custom 2.5"also. I think i am going to buy just the intercooler core and have the end tanks custom made(better fit). The turbo size i am not sure about???? That is still confusing to me. I plan on running 8psi on a 1.6L motor w/10.2 compression. My goal is 275-300hp or 12.9 on the stock motor. Is there a turbo manifold out there better suited for liquid to air? Garret turbo or Turbonetics turbo? I have a lot of questions so any help will be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks....

I f its a street car I wouldn't do it. Once your water gets hot it stays that way. Its great at the tracks when racing. My brother has a liquid aftercooler and after 2 passes down the track you can make Tea with that water. In the summer time thats going to really hurt your performance on the street if thats what your looking for, if not disregard this post.
I might have asked to many questions and thats why there's no responses. I want to do a water to air intercooler. Has anyone had any expeiriances with that setup? good or bad? Are there turbo manifolds better suited for that application (ex. intercooler pipeing exits the passenger side rather than driver side or can i just spin the turbo?) Thanks...
All piping are custom made for your kind of setup. Like above posted states, on the street your setup is gonna hurt. Using vortec water cooler isn't that much better either. That means you have way many pipes going all different directions. You will also need external water pump to pump water circulating the cooler. Water takes longer to cool than air. I thought of doing so but I ditch the idea and went air to air again. Just not effient enough.
u can do a water to air setup... its not that hard and will actually work pretty well... u just have to put the right parts together... as for manifolds if ur going all out u might as well get a custom manifold designed for ur purpose...

What do you mean right parts? I called spearco and got a part # for a liquid to air intercooler good for 400hp. They also gave me a part # for a water pump to go with that intercooler. The only parts left are a few fittings, hoses, water resivoir, and an oil/trans cooler setup. The oil/trans cooler being the most important. I would think the bigger the better.
