Default NEED HELP PLEASE! Turbo Installation Issues. Please Read

I have a few questions: First off, I recently installed a turbo kit on a '98 civic ex d16y8. Everything is working perfectly EXCEPT when I finished the install, for some reason, my speedometer will jump around sparatically every now and then, especially with the gas pedal pressed. I did not mess with ANY wires on the entire car except for the O2 sensor to lengthen them to fit the new downpipe. I DID however, make a mistake and left them hanging and when we first started the car, a couple of them burned on the pipe some of the insulation off. I saw it, fixed the problem, taped them up and tied them off, however, could it have already damaged something? Another thing, I am still running stock fuel system, the ONLY thing I have done is turbo, intercooler, missing link, and completely free exhaust except for a 5 mugen muffler, no cat. My system is only running 5 psi, NO detonation what-so-ever. The wastegate arm is shortened as far as possible. I know on the grand national we have we installed a bleed valve in the vacuum line going to the wastegate to trick it into allowing more boost. The PRIMARY problem is definitely the speedomete because when I had my CEL checked, it had thrown two o2 sensor codes, 1 inproper gear ratio, and 1 electronic load something or other (piece thats in the fuse box under the hood). I KNOW all the improper gear ratio and the speedometer jumping have to be tied in as when it jumps up to 60 when i'm going 15 it tries to go ahead and shift into a higher gear. I SERIOUSLY need some help here!!!!!!!!!! Please help A.S.A.P.!

you might have possibly screwed with the vss or something like that. don't think the o2 sensor harness has anything to tie into the vss with....and I checked my diagrams on m.o.d. just to be sure.

aren't you on the jeepsunlimited.com forums too?? small world...

hmmm, I was going to say check the wiring at the ecu (like if you wired in a blue box) but you didn't so the only thing I can think of is the v.s.s. unit on the tranny...

try these forums too:

homemadeturbo.com

pollito.no-ip.com/turbod16/

possibly on superhonda.com but they tend to be iffy...

you may have damaged your ecu in some way. also running 5 lbs with no management at all is just not smart.

I don't see what wires could have been damaged because the only wires we even TOUCHED were the O2 wires that were on the downpipe, and that was only to lengthen them, however, I was a complete moron and didn't tie them off and loom them up beacuse I couldn't wait to test her out (was gonna do that later). 2 of them burned some of the insulation off, I immediately corrected the problem. What damage could this have done? Just replace the O2 sensor and be done with it, or worse? As far as the 5 lbs. of boost, I realize that this isn't a Buick GN, as thats the other car I own and she runs 17-18 psi with NO fuel management, all stock system, only 28lb fuel injectors stock. Like I said, the civ is NO GN, but i know what detonation sounds like, and there is ZERO on the civ, therefore no damage is occuring at 5 currently. I DO understand I need a V-AFC SOON, its just no $$ is in tha pockets So for the time being, my PRIMARY concern is fixing the KNOWN problems, a.k.a. the speedo and the CEL light codes (BOTH o2 sensors, improper gear ratio, and something about a voltage regulator or something (located in the fuse box under the hood)). I have a feeling that the improper gear ratio and the speedo are tied hand in hand as when the car hits 50 mph and wants to shift to overdrive, but the speedo is jumping around like crazy, she wants to jump in and out of gear. What on EARTH could be causing this problem? I am about to have to stick her in a pro shop next week for about a week or so to have her fixed if I can't remedy this myself. Any more advice would be greatly appreciated THANKS!

I think you should definitely double check your tranny where the shift linkage hooks in. I know when I installed my greddy setup...trying to get the whole manifold-turbo setup in from under the car was a BITCH until I took my hydraulic linkage loose from the tranny and out of the way. But I had to re-adjust it...

you might have damaged this in some way (causing it to pop out of gear) and if that's true you just might have also damaged the VSS or the wiring to it. Just start looking GOOD at things for ding marks etc...
