need help boosting
well i have come to the conclusion that i will not be getting my b18c soon so i got to go to another cheaper route
now my question is what turbo setups can i use to boost my y7
i might not go the mini me route so i need a setup that uses the y7 throotle body
what turbo setup can i use with out breaking my wallet and will still be able to push at leats 200whp
any info will be greatly appreciated

I used a homemade set-up. I got a t3 from the junkyard for $30, use the hf exhaust manifold get an intercooler and piping, then you just have to tune it. Ive been running 10 psi for a month and no problems.

Just read the FAQ. I highly doubt you'll have good luck piecing a HMT turbo setup together, let alone tuning it well. You'll probably have to get a prefabed kit, so figure in over $2k for that. Although if you're planning on getting the b18c in under 10k miles, you could get an ebay kit, run a basemap or even an fmu and arive at that b18c with a smoking car with boost, exhaust, and oil leaks all over.
Boost is only cheap if you've done it before, or know forced induction like you know the top side of your dick. Inexperienced people have had good luck before, but the vast majority of FI 'n00bs' destroy their first motor.

Re: need help boosting (HiProfile)
thanks ur post helped me a lot
now if i went with the egay kit and just welded the weld better on my own at work will it still hold up good
also that is the reason that i am choosing to boost my cheap y7 because they are inexspensive and will most likely have one on hand for back up
and second i have access to diesel turbochargers and was wondering if i can put that on my civic will it work
since diesels redline at 3000rpm will that eliminate turbo lag

This was my second HMT setup, you dont need to waste 2k for a kit.
Honda HF exhaust manifold $30
Adapter plate $20
Intercooler $80
T3 Turbo $100
BOV $50
Chipped ECU with hondata $50
Inter cooler piping $40
DSM 450 injectoors $50
Making 12psi and having your motor last without waisting 2K PRICELESS

Smoking car, exhaust and oil leaks all over????? Only if you dont know what your doing, and if thats the case you shouldnt be working on cars. My first tubo set-up worked awsome i was 17 and knew nothing about honda's i had the motor in the car for a year. The only reason i took it out was because it was a 1.5, i replaced it with a 1.6 v-tech and it ran great. Dont let anyone make you think you cant do it. If you have all the parts and take your time you will be fine with your first set-up.

Yes a diesel turbo will work, my T3 is off a 1991 diesel mercedes, and it works great. You dont have to spend a fortune to make it work, alot of people just overkill and spend money on stuff they dont need. Just keep the boost under control and dont boost more then the motor can handle.

u can get a turbo exhaust manifold from ebay for like 100 bucks. u can get all ur intake piping from ebay for pretty cheap, ur intercooler will be cheap... ****... u can piece together a good kit from ebay. only things that make the big difference from egay and a good setup would be the manifold, the turbo, and intercooler. but if ur running mild boost i don't see any problems. and u can up ur injectors.. then you'd need to up your fuel pump. but for low boost it isn't even necessary.

No, most people want a clean new setup that doesn't look like it was pieced from the trash bin.

but bottom line is that you can run a really reliable junkyard kit if you do your homework and tune the car well.
i run a hmt kit with the HF manifold, 13B turbo, some old *** intercooler, dsm 450's, dsm bov etc, etc...bottom line is that I USED HONDATA TO TUNE. i spent more on engine management than i did on the entire rest of my setup. it was tuned by corey at slowmotion here in columbus who is unbelievably reputable. you can have a fun, reliable, moderately fast setup for relatively cheap.
my advise to the OP is this: buy all of your turbo parts, do your homework and find ones that work with your engine and power goals and then budget about twice that amount on ems and tuning. youll be happy in the end. why buy the Titanic and ask a 4 year old to pilot it?
