Default Necessary turbo items...

what are the necessary items to a successfull turboed-engine?..what comes in the kits?.. oh yea, another question.. i heard that if you have low comp. pistons and you get a turbo on it.. then using nos would be more efficient... true??

Judging by his amount of posts (31), I think it'd be safe to say he is serious. I'm not trying to be an *** either though man. But to successful turbo a car would also entail safety and reliablity. It would be best to have someone that knows and has "been there done that" write up a list of parts and stuff for you.

I started knowing zip about turbocharging my car this time last year. After extensive readin and searching of this forum and others, I put together my own kit between May to November of last year. Finally I got my turbo installed and tuned early January.

I'd recommend working with a friend who knows or start cramming...

Some major parts: Turbo, Manifold, Intercooler, Blow off valve, Wastegate, ...and a bunch of other stuff depends on your setup.

I hate when people act like dicks.

To answer your question. Turbo, turbo manifold, blow off valve, wastegate, intercooler, piping, 4(i think) oil lines- fuel rail, fuel injectors, fuel pressure regulator, (maybe a fuel pump depending on hp level), some sort of fuel management system - some other minor things also

anyway, try to talk to a performance shop in your town. If they'd hurry up and change my "trial user" status i would pm you. but i guess not. I could have sworn it was for two weeks only, its been way longer than that.

IMO I say it's best to wait to turbo a car till you can install it yourself. You will be able to trouble shoot so much better and when the car takes the occasional crap then you can maintain it and fix yourself.

Why don't you just buy a kit? I had a kid try to piece together his own kit, first time ever dealing with anything turbo, and it was a joke. There are a ton of companies out there that make kits, and for every budget. Or you could buy a used kit and save some more money, I'm getting rid of mine(look at my sig). Also using nitrous on a turbo setup will help spool a large turbo but other than that you may want to stay away from using both, especially if you have never worked on or driven a turbo car. That is just my .02

Almost forgot, SEARCH. This site is full of great info and the search option on here is prolly one of the best and easiest I've ever used.

I'm gald to see that you are taking the time, effort, and self control to save up the money for a quality kit like full-race instead of some of the other poor alternatives out there
