Re: NA vs. FI (tzsir)
The turbo will eat it alive, is it going to be a race car or a daily driver ? If you really want to be fast in an all motor car you have to make major power and lighten the car a lot to the point where the car won't be safe to drive in the street. You can keep the car intack if you build the motor for boost. I myself am rolling around the streets 300 hp to the wheels. Yeah there is a little more maintance but the power gain is worth it.

All motor and boosted cars can equally compete, it depends on what kind of racing you are speaking of. If you are doing highway pulls, then the turbo motor should be able to win. If you are talking about 1/4 mile racing, then the all motor car and turbo car could be tied. It depends on each set-up. There is a guy that posts in here that did a 11.5 all motor. Most of the cars in here dont even run 12's.

There is a kid here running low elevens with his all-motor CRX. I saw it for the first time last week at the track day. Take a look at the article below too.

... but referring back to the "equally built" portion of the very "open ended" original post, there is absolutely no contest. A well built, well driven turbo car will win. Just look at how the various motorsports associations treat turbo cars. That will give you an idea how they feel about them. In the world of motorsports, with good drivers and fat budgets, FI will dominate NA every time (without severe restrictions).
As far as I have heard, there has only been one real power barrier arise that FI technology hasn't found a way around yet. Even "old" Widmer himself talks about it. When charge velocities inside the intake runners exceed mach 1 it screws up the fuel mixture. So far they haven't found an answer that I've heard about. If any of y'all are experiencing this problem firsthand, mucho props.

I would say for every 11 second all motor street car there is a 10 second turbo car. To get all motor to run fast they have to be light as ****. Show me a few fast all motor cars that weigh 2500-2600lbs +.
