Default NA to Turbo -- what to keep and what to replace?

Current Motor Specs:
84mm LS block
CP 12:1 compression pistons
Eagle Rods
GSR head
buddy club spec 4 cams
gsr tranny

the car is fast but i want it to be faster. a lot faster. Besides the obvious header and intake, what should be done? I plan on getting new pistons to lower the compression to around 9:1. Goal is 400whp on pump gas. Should i get rid of the cams and trade em for ITRs? anything else?

thank

The cams will be way too for that motor when its boosted. Not because of the severe overlap they probably have, but because OEM 84mm sleeves are a BAD idea for 300+ whp.

I'd suggest getting a bare 81mm block, bore it .020" over, and build it that way. You don't really have to remove the cams, but if they stay you'll want adjustable gears to tune out the overlap on the dyno. They probably have huge non-vtec lobes, which may help if you get a huge turbo, but will hinder spool time if you go with a smaller turbo. If its a street car, you want the motor to have a wide powerband, so then you get good top-end while having enough down low to help spool the turbo. If its for the track, all you really need are the vtec lobes.

An LS block bored to 84mm wouldn't even run N/A, nevermind boosted. I'm pretty sure this guy has a sleeved block.

you got the right idea. New pistons and probably some gsr/itr cams would be good. Make sure your fuel is up to spec, but im sure you already know that.

Aside from that im sure yoru block can take 400whp as it sits.

Good Luck
