My Winter Project (56k warn!)
Hello all,
Most of you don't know me as I'm pretty new to the FI forum,
though I have searched and followed it for about a year.
This winter will start my turbo build-up. I decided to go with a full-race
turbo kit as many of you know, for the potential for this kit right out of the box.
I went with a Garrett GT3040 series turbo. The turbo has a .70 a/r compressor
housing with a gt 40 .82 trim wheel. The turbine side is a gt 30 in a .63 a/r. I
need to thank Geoff for helping me pick this beast.
Fuel management is taken care of by a P28 Chipped ECU with
OBD2-B connectors from hondata, a hondata S200 with boost
option, GM 3 bar map sensor, Greddy 720cc injectors (with obd 1
injector clips and a resistor box) and a Walbro 255hp lph fuel
pump. Boost will be controlled with a Greddy Profec B.
Tunning will be done by Jeff Evans aka boosted hybrid. I owe
him a ton already for how much I hammer him with questions!
Bottom end will be 83mm CP 9:1 comperssion pistons with Full-
Race Rods with ARP rod bolts. I plan on having the bottom end
shipped to Earl to be bored to have the works done i.e....
benson sleeves installed then assembled and blue printed with the
supplied rods and pistons. The head will then be re-attached with
AEBS head studs.
Drivetrain will be updated with a Action 2ks kevlar-tribco lining
clutch and a Quaiffe LSD. I'm sure there is stuff I'm missing but
that's all I can think of off the top of my head. Goals are me
hitting over 400whp on pump gas plain and simple. Here are a
few pics of the turbo kit for now. I will keep you updated as time
progresses. Any feed back would be greatly appreciated!!!
I have many thanks already and project hasn't even begun. Thanks to
Geoff at Full-Race, Jeff aka boosted hybrid, Earl, Kyle from wiredspeed
and everyone else in my Sig. Here are a few pics.

the setup you are running is basically the epitome of most street cars. the response and power will be unheard of as compared to about 99% of the other turbo hondas running around. good luck with it mike

Funny you mention that as our cars were done pretty much around the same time.
Not sure if he remembers but I IMed him and made the remark that our cars
where twins, It's a damn shame his car was stolen it was sexy as hell. You could
say I have a bias opinion though!

Thanks Geoff I hope to do your kit proud and I can't thank you enough
for all your help and input. It's nice to know you buy alot more then a turbo
kit when you buy one from full-race.

Re: My Winter Project (Mikes01GSR)
Very nice setup, however, i would be skeptical of the action 2ks clutch. I'm currently running the 2ms and it's holding, but i'm at the limit. The 2ks doesn't have as much holding power but is suppose to last longer. Just a heads up if you didn't know. Paul

Thanks for the heads up Paul, I am kinda kicking myself cause when I purchased
the clutch I told kyle I was only looking for 350whp max cause I was going to
sleeve the block at the time. However, the more money I spent I felt that I had to
much into my set-up to end up cracking a sleeve and then causing more down
time. So this will be something I have to think about before putting it in.....You say yours is maxed now, is that on your 21 psi set up?

Who knows Sean it may bring him over to the dark side. Either way it doesn't
matter his car is nice looking so I don't mind looking at it in my rear view.

Re: My Winter Project (Swags04)
Thanks for the compliments guys, I have to say the search button is your friend
as I did alot of research to end up with the set-up I'm going with. Also the people
I contacted from the FI forum really helped me out and pushed me in the right
direction. I'm sure I will be in here asking question alot when I start the project in
early november when I pull the motor. This was by know means a cheap set-up but
then I haven't really skimped on anything in my car so why start now. Some
people around my town think I'm crazy cause I only do around town driving and
only put 18,000 miles on my car since I bought it new 3 years ago and I'm already
rebuilding the motor. Oh well if I learned anything from the many threads in here is
do it once and do it right.

Re: My Winter Project (Mikes01GSR)
bad asssssssssssss.
im running a gt30r. slightly smaller but still kickass! i think youll love the turbo.
only diff on mine is..i have a .82a/r exh side. so its a little "laggier" on my b16.
i think your response will be crazy!
the lsd will help so much. and so will big beefy tires.

Re: My Winter Project (SiRkid)
How much did the turbo set you back (if you dont mind me asking)? I'm looking to build a similar setup this winter as well. Just curious!

I bought it with the Full-Race kit I think it was about a 600 dollar upcharge for the GT series, Though prices for the GT series are rumored to be rising.....Talk to Geoff he can get prices for you...
