Does $185 an hour sound right for Hondata tuning?
I am having my car tuned at Abacus Racing in VA and was quoted $185 an hour for tuning Hondata. Does that sound right? Thanks

Balanced Performance quoted me $150/hr for dyno tuning also.

Its a little higher but deffinatly not out of line, especially if you think they have the best ability to do the job. Really what is $35 out of your whole build?

Boosted-Hybrid charges a flat rate in case any probs arise i guess. i rather go with a flat rate so i know how empty my pockets will be at the end of the day

The place I am planning on going (torquefreaks) is $120/hr. The rate isn't horrible but I keep hearing that I should expect to pay around 8 hours for turbo h22 + aem.
$960 = holy ****.

That seems a little unreasonable!

Yea, but they seem to be regarded as AEM gods and stuff. Check out the AEM forums there is nothing but praise.
Still though, it is kind of scary going in to something like that with just an hourly rate...who knows what the total might be.

Re: (bomber)
Secret Services used to charge a flat rate. I personally like this better unless your coming back for a re-tune after a few changes.
From experience, we all know that they don't just work straight on your car while your at a dyno shop, ****, If I had to pay hourly for my tune, I would still be paying for it today, my car sat on SS dyno for almost 10 hours while they answered phone, got lunch, worked on someone else car for a while, watched tv, etc.......then eventually got back to my car.

Holy Chit that's over priced....
even the most radical setup should be under the 4-5 hour window with an EMS.

Re: (Casey)
Passen Motorsports in Columbus, OH charged $100/hr to tune my EMS. Got a good tune and the guys there were cool. Car runs 2000000% better then my "tuning".

That seems to be about the average these days. Flat rate! Those are the best!
