Default My stupidest thought yet

This has got to be the stupidest thing I've thought of yet...

but...

Couldn't you plumb an air tank into your engine? Something pressurized to the tune of 30psi or so, with a large capacity? Plus, air is free..

Wouldn't that give you *ahem* "boost" for the few seconds before the air ran out?

Oy vay... it's way too early in the morning... but that thought made me laugh

For being a well established ht member that is a pretty stupid thought J/K. Naw I doubt that would work.

sure you could do that...but you would need a tank the size of a tanker truck.

Think about it like this... T25 = 280cfm. Thats cubic feet per minute of air.

**edit** I dont know how much NOS weights compared to AIR. So lets just asume its the same for the follow paragraph. **/edit**
1 cubic foot of air @ 60º = .0765 pounds. A 10lb bottle of NOS would hold ~142 cubic feet of air (at ~1200psi). So a 20lb bottle would be around ~280 cubic feet. A t25 could suck that in 1min.

Of course you would have to figure out a way to regulator the air pressure..but i guess its possible.

So theres your answer.

actually yes it would work but you would have to have a large capacity tank to make it worth while plus the compressor and all the other stuff like any other FI set up.....

At least I don't see a reason why technically it would not work? Nitrous is just more compact and efficient if you want to go that route

edit (what liam821 said )

hahaha... CFM... thank you Forgot about that!

I was also thinking that unless you hooked up some sort of a flapper door to your intake to blow it shut when the air tank depressurized into the intake tract, the air would just blow right out the other side of your intake, pressurize your valvecover, and probably 'remove' your air filter for you

It was a funny thought though!

You also might blow the welds on your intake....and have your diamond plate floor boards fly out...so becareful
