Default My modified Starion IC. Specs and pics inside......

Ok since there's some people interested in these I took some pics.
Measurements are as follows:
Height: 8.5 inches
Depth: 2.75 inches
Core Width: 16.5 inches
End tank to End tank Width: 21.5 inches
I put in 2.25 in/outlet piping, this is the largest you can go without having new endtanks welded on.
As you can see I modified this IC. For those who dont know the original configuration had the piping (small 1.5") coming from the top.
I was quoted a price of $200 to have new piping welded (heli-arked) onto the sides. I said screw that and just JB welded them and the caps to cover the original in/outputs.
Hopefully this will be good until I decide to go with a larger intercooler.
Let me know if you have any questions.

This here shows the cap on the top covering the original in/outlet and a closer look of my JB weld job on the new in/out

Enjoy

Wow, it looks REALLY good, nice job on the JB weld. Sometimes I tend to get carried away w/ that stuff, but anyways, where did you purchase this i/c? It looks like it's in excellent shape.

Looks good Are you also going to make brackets to make it fit on your car? Do you know how much boost/horsepower you can run with it? It's a nice cheap intercooler that I also plan to use.

Think "5-minute epoxy with steel dust mixed into it" but it's a lot stronger than it sounds. Bonds metal very well, can be ground, filed, sanded, etc. after it sets.

I buy it at Kragen / Shucks / whatever the fsck auto parts store you have - buy it in the "Industro-Weld" package you get 5 times as much for 2 times the price of the little package. I believe the Industro-weld takes a little longer to set but it is stronger as well. I'm actually using JB-Quik on my BOV flange/riser tube and if you clean and sand both surfaces before application it holds up great. No problems at all.

Whoa, I was gonna get mine welded to look like that (which is supposed to be expensive I hear). I never thouht of using JB weld. Did you use aluminum 2.25 pipes or steel? Pretty strong eh. I wa planning to shoot a light coat of flat blac over mine so I really don't care how the JB weld looks. Though your looks like a pretty clean job.

nice thing about JB weld is it doesn't care what material you use; I've JB'd Al piping to steel pipe with great success
