my goals
Well lets just start by saying im new I read a lot of stuff to try and get informed..... So please no flames
i have a 00 si my plans are:
Buy a B18 Dart Block and crank, rods, 9.~:1 pistons
Doing this to have the lease amount of down time of my car then Turbo and such all that stuff don’t want to type it all you guys have a better idea than i do.
Then buy an AEM
Get my head p&p and ti retainers
and an lsd(or whole new trany with lsd Si gears are steep)
Well what my main problem is should i buy the dart block i want this to be my daily driver and be dependable but i want to run mid 12's on street tires.
is this really worth it or should i just have my block sleeved and drive whatever junk car i buy a little longer.
I know this is going to cost A LOT but i will be graduating shortly with a mechanical engineering degree. So i hope i can find a good job. Then i plan to take out a loan for like 15,000(No im not crazy i just love my car and hate people with Stock GT's that think they are fast and the look on there face when a civic stomps them will be worth every cent) This should cover everything I hope including tuning and lots of beer for friends to help put it all together and lots of little problems that happen.
This is long i know so everyone give me your .02$ and dont be too harsh to me.
I did say i was a n00b and want to know what you think thanks.
maybe you could tell me some good setups????????/

firstly may i recommend u have a job or at least some starting money before u jump head first into a project like this, especially if its your first one. cars built to run times like that, especially turbo cars, are serious money pits, as anyone in the FI forum can vouch for. there will always be something else u want to buy and higher numbers you'll wanna reach.
secondly, in regards to your goals, if u are talking about stock GT mustangs, u do not need a mid 12 second car to beat them. they are not that fast.
thirdly, it's highly recommended that you do some more research so that you will have a better idea of what you can do to try to reach your goals. asking questions on this board can help for little choices and problems, but it's gonna be really tough down the road if you have to depend on asking questions every step of the way of your build. in all honesty it's so much better to get all the parts you need and have them all on hand before starting.
also, i don't think you'll need to buy a darton block to achieve 12s. with good fuel management, a lightly built block and a decent turbo you should be able to reach ur goal. good luck
