My Dyno 19psi
I know its been posted under a different thread but I have a few questions. My car hasn't been tuned since 13psi. I'm not sure what the AF was on this run but I believe my 550's maxed out between 6-6.5k. On my other dyno months ago my tq was flat from 6k to 8500. Would leaning out cause tq to fall off but still have hp slowly rise? I'm trying to get teh best run out of this engine before I switch to a sleeved block. Can I install a B&M or AEM fuel regulator and tune my static pressure up from 44psi to 55-60psi and add enough fuel to keep it safe at teh track.
setup-
b18c1
srp 9:6:1
60-1 hifi
hondata 2b
550's
255lph hp pump

Re: My Dyno 19psi (hybrid901)
i dont think it was the fuel causing the torque to stop increasing..just my hunch,
nice graph ! im pretty sure you can add some c16 and raise the fuel press and add a marginal amount of safety for track

RC 550's will max out with a STOCK fuel pump, at about 380-390 WHP.
Actually, the fuel pump doesn't matter, its all about pressure, if you have it at like 55, which is pretty much the max on a good stock pump, 380 will be the result.

Re: My Dyno 19psi (ImportReview)
The base pressure on that run was 44psi. I'll get an adjustiable regulator and turn the base pressure up to 55-60psi. Anyone with any guesses why tq drops of like that?

Josh I think you are definitly leaning out. look at how smooth the torque curve is and then it just drops off and gets squirly where turbo gsr's(especially w/ 60-1's) usually peak and hold flat until around 7500. thats no good u might be getting detonation too.

it may not be audible if ur car is really loud, or if u don't know exactly what to listen for. There is a trick i know to check for really really subtle detonation. Get a stud and find somewhere on ur block, preferably where u took out powersteering or AC. have u? put a stud in and put a stethascope on the stud and listen to it.

Re: My Dyno 19psi (DIRep)
it looks like it is slightly detonating at higher rpms, how the graph has little peaks and valleys, thats only what ive been told though...

Re: My Dyno 19psi (accordfreak)
stock sleeves geez BOY can you give more on your setup? rods? flywheel etc? sorry This car/motor may convinced to go pistons and rods with no GE block. and the turbo set up...
I can add that the top on of the graph seems to be leaning or deatantion for sure. But how are you gonna find out if its detanating with a sethoscope while under load under boost?

Re: My Dyno 19psi (DIRep)
If you have the $$ I would deffinatly sleeve the block. If I would have sleeved the block last year I wouldn't be building another motor again. When I first built this motor I only want 300whp now 370 doesn't feel fast enough.
I'm going to get a fuel regulator and turn the pressure up before I go back to the dyno and see if that helps.

Re: My Dyno 19psi (hybrid901)
if you have hondata, why are you messing w/a fpr? why dont you just get on a dyno w/wb o2 and tune it. it would be much better to add fuel where you need it, insted of just upping the fuel pressure.
thats why i bought hondata to tune the hell out of it.
just my $.02

all the mathmatics in the world can't argue against real world facts.
All it shows is that the mathmatics behind calulating WHP for sizes of injectors is not an exact science.
Maybe its 440 BHP>
Turn up your fuel pressure to like 60 PSI, then you will get like 20 more WHP out of it or so.

Re: My Dyno 19psi (hybrid901)
I would add the FPR and see what happens. Your fuel pressure appears to be a very likely canidate, but what's your timing like way up there? I just don't see you running out of fuel. It should be leaning out, but I don't see it running that lean to detonate if you adjusted you timing maps to work with it. It shouldn't even detonate if you can keep everything cool coming in the correct timing would allow you to bure a leaner mixture.

Re: My Dyno 19psi (BudaKai)
should have used the dyno's a/f logging capability.
and after you suspected the detonation/lean condition, as in right when the engine was shut off, you should have had someone who knows what to look for check your spark plugs to see what was going on in there. now you know

Re: My Dyno 19psi (hybrid901)
Your running that much boost without knowing what your A/F ratio is?? And you are possibly very close to maxing out your injectors?? Damn son, you must want to blow the motor. Seriously, what are you thinking?
Not smart in my opinion.

Re: My Dyno 19psi (lazy bum shaughn)
I just went out and checked and my timing and the distributor is at 14 degrees so even though the hondata shows 17 degrees does that mean I'm really at 15? Also my fuel pressure at idle is at 42psi. I'm looking at a aeromotive or a aem fuel regulator. Is either better than the other?
Thanks
